Views of the Neighborhood – The Enchanted Forest

As Christmas approaches, Port Aransas celebrates the season with its annual Enchanted Forest sponsored by the Department of Parks and Recreation. The forest is put up in the community center and is a collection of trees decorated by local businesses and organizations.

The community center welcomes folks from around the country to the Enchanted forest inside.

A family from Oklahoma had a swell time.

This is a backdrop for Christmas card photos.

Tiny display in the corner.

Each tree was done by a separate organization. The signs below identified the group.

More trees. The lights on the floor gave the feeling of a path through the forest

Looking back toward the entrance.

The Port A Strong tree.

Three snowmen. The center was pretty dark, but my iPhone made it appear lighter.

a golden tree and a tree of stars.

Frosty of course.

Thank you for coming along and a very Happy Holiday to all.

It’s such a great idea to have something like this indoors, so people can get closer to the trees to enjoy the detail, and be comfortable while doing so — even if it’s cold or rainy. Merry Christmas to you and yours, John. (I can’t help wondering — do people decorate their palms down there, too? Around here, there are more palms than you can count with lights wrapped around their trunks.)

Some do decorate their palms. Mostly wrapping the lights around the trunk. I used to put out two artificial palms with lights. Very festive. (They fell apart due to the salt spray. They did last six years though.)

That’s a great idea, John. These Christas trees look so festive. But, coming from way farther north, I still consider it somewhat weird to have Christmas trees and palm trees so close together.
Enjoy the holidays and the festivities,
    Pit
