It is Stream of Conscious Saturday time again. This weeks prompt is “soul/sole.” To quote Linda Hill. “Use one, use both, use ’em any way you like. Enjoy!” If you would like to participate, visit Linda’s blog and read how easy it is to get carried away and enjoy. Soul/Sole by John W. Howell ©2019
“Bless my soul what is wrong with me?”
“Huh?”
“I’m itchy as a man on a fuzzy tree.”
“Okay, what’s up?”
“I’ve been listening to some rock.”
“Oh, I get it. Elvis and “All Shook Up.”
“Well, that was one of the songs.”
“But one you found worthy of quoting.”
“I guess so.”
“How about some others?”
“Yeah, Soul Man by Sam and Dave.”
“Good one.”
“Soul and Inspiration by the Righteous Brothers.”
“One of my favorites.”
“Stoned Soul Picnic by the 5th Dimension.”
“I could never understand what stoned soul was.”
“A little Soul by Wilson Pickett.”
“I get the idea. You want anything from the store?”
“All About Soul by Billy Joel.”
“Let’s transition away from soul and think store.”
“American Soul by U2.”
“Alright. I’m leaving.”
“For the store?”
“Yes, for the store.”
“Could you pick up a fillet of sole?”
“Why am I not surprised?”
“Shoes.”
“Shoes?”
“Could you take them to the shoe repair?”
“Let me guess. They need new soles.”
“Just one sole.”
“Shoot me in the face.”
[…] “Again, don’t mind him, Brad. John Howell introduced this bar to Willett Reserve.” […]

Now I have an entire playlist stuck in my head! Thanks John. Stoned soul picnic. I haven’t thought about that song in years.
I hope your shoes are all put away and your soul is properly cared for. Have a great weekend.

I have 20 pairs of dress shoes and nowhere to wear them. These are shoes with tons of memories. Sadly I need to tell them all good bye. One pair I bought after my first promotion 50 years ago. They cost a bundle at the time and still look great.

20 pairs? That’s close to women’s territory, John.

I got twenty pair of stinky old running shoes, if anyone is interested. At least that is what my wife claims. I mix and match when they start getting worn but I never throw them out because, well, define worn. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Worn is in the eye of someone else (not to be mentioned aloud)

I have “Stoned Soul Picnic” playing in my head. I’m not sure what the title or songs means, but it definitely sounds like fun. Someone bring the brownies!

I’m going to be trying to figure out that Izzy tree phrase for a long time. Never heard that before.

OLd Elvis tune. He was the only one I ever heard who talked about a fuzzy tree.

Fantastic! I bake Dover sole every week! Bless my soul, it’s good. Most importantly, can you tell me what “Stoned Soul Picnic” is about? Always loved the song, but wondered if it meant they were all stoned at the picnic….???

I have no idea. Also there is a song Stoned so in Love with You. No idea about that either.

This week you are the Soul Man (and dang it, you’ve put “All Shook Up” in my head!)
