Views of the Neighborhood – Fourth of July Parade

Since this week was the Fourth. I thought you would enjoy some of the sights and sounds of the Lakeway Fourth of July parade. There were over 100 entries in the parade so I was forced to edit the numbers of photos. There are still way too many but sometimes it was hard to cut.

Fourth of July parade

Mounted police to begin

The first responder honor guard

The grand marshall Astronaut Navy Captain (Ret) Kenneth Cockrell

Austin Mounted police

Utility float.

A representative of the business floats

The parade honors the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

A bloodmobile

Cub scouts.

Vintage cars.

Hot rods.

Lakeway precision beach chair drill team.

Golf carts with flags from all fifty states

Viet Nam veterans

In honor of the fallen warriors

The Chick-Fil-A cow was there

As was HEB (A Texas Food Store chain).

Band members riding not playing.

We love the bookmobile.

The final picture is a reminder of the Apollo 11 mission.

Gotta be careful reading the sign when you step in. Might be the bloodmobile. 😁

What fun! I particularly liked the beach chair drill team. I suspect they had an act that evoked good-hearted glee. 😀

    Great parade, John.
Unfortunately I can’t show any pictures of ours this year, as I didn’t attend the parade. I wasn’t exactly feeling up to scratch that morning.

There’s so much to love here – especially that beach chair drill team. I liked the vintage cars, too, and the float carrying Pack 440. Those kids clearly were having a lot of fun. I was glad to see the bookmobile; I’d like to see more of those in communities. They were such a part of my childhood summers.

I wonder if the beach chair drill team has any affiliation with the adult beverage synchronized drinking team.

They sometimes march together but not for any length of time after the first couple of shots.

Our band was supposed to ride and play, too, rather than marching in all that heat! Love the white horse and the cow costume, as well as the moon landing recognition and the Scouts. Our horses always bring up the rear (maybe we need one of those Pooper Scooper trucks, ha!)
