Today we are visiting the Lake Travis Community library in Lakeway. Here is a bit of history quoted from their webpage.
“The Lake Travis Community Library was founded in 1985 and through the generosity of Lake Travis ISD, shared space with the Lake Travis High School Library for over 20 years. In May 2004, voters approved the formation of a Lake Travis Community Library District as a means to create public funding for a regional library. The library district includes Hudson Bend, Lakeway, The Hills, Spicewood, and Briarcliff.
In March 2011, the library received a generous donation of land from Haythem Dawlett in the Tuscan Village development. The new library opened in February 2013. This 11,000 square foot building includes a meeting space for community use, dozens of public computers, a teen room, study tables, a book sale area, a coffee bar, a patio, and ample space for children’s programming.”

Nancy’s Nook has fiction and non-fiction books for sale. Several times a year, the library has a flash sale where a reader can buy a bag of books for $10.00. Coffee is available as well.

I stopped cold when I saw the sculpture of the boy reading the book. It certainly looks like the work of the sculptor who created four kids crossing a log that was installed at the Brazoria Wildlife Refuge. I’m going to make a couple of phone calls after the holiday and see if that might be so.

I enjoyed this, John. I am happy to see libraries thrive in an era when many were predicting they would be gone. I think there’s still a need for community-based education and a focus on reading and learning.

Wow! What a fabulous library. Our school is undergoing a major renovation this year, and when it is complete, the library will have Jennie’s Cozy Corner in honor of me. Nancy’s Nook reminded me of that. I love the brick donors pathway.

I love libraries, big or small, new or old. Passing through the doors is like entering a cathedral. No matter how hurried I am, I seem to lose that urgency once I’m inside. I never want to leave. Thanks for sharing this post, John. I loved it!

What a lovely place to visit – regularly!
I miss going to a library, to tell the truth…then again, I miss reading. Seems once I’ve gone through all the blog posts and whatnot on the Internets, sitting down with a book seems like too much. Must change my ways.

Looks like reading is alive and well here. I purposefully took shots without people in them per the request of the staff. There were kids and adults all over the place.

I never turn down a visit to a public library, John, so I enjoyed seeing yours very much. Our city’s library is one of the Andrew Carnegie public libraries in Central Illinois and is one of my favorite stomping grounds! Lovely scenic view at yours (we, too, have those personalized bricks out front, but no statue of a boy reading a book).
