Today on our walk around the neighborhood, we are going to see things that are in front yards. Okay, not so exciting, but maybe you’ll see something that you will like. Get your mask since the Saharan dust is still here. If you’d rather stay, help yourself to the sangria and crostinis.
Our first item is a wind thingy. When the wind blows, those butterflies spin in opposite directions. Yes, it is turning so a little blurry.
We are at the purple house, and in their front yard is a metal cactus surrounded by pinwheels. Fun stuff.
Here is a statement of the beliefs of the folks in this home.
A happy event announcement in this front yard.
Looks like a comfortable sitting place. Why the front yard? It could be a case of FOMO. My guess is Fido joins the couch crowd too.
Another wind thingy. This one rotates on its axis.
A deer family in the front yard of this house.
A classic Mid Century Modern lawnchair.
Can’t tell you what this is. Driftwood rocks and a Texas state paver.
I had to get a shot of this magnificent pink crape myrtle.
I thought this was a cute Fourth of July display. Twiggy loves this strip of lawn.
Uh-oh. A dumpster in the front yard isn’t always the best of news. We’ll have to see if it is a remodel or a repair.
It is early voting time in Texas, so there are a few campaign signs. Too bad, Jennifer can’t help with those weeds in the gravel.
There you have it. Let’s get back and see if there are any sangria and crostinis left. Thanks for walking with me today. I hope you have a great week.
I laughed at your question about the chairs in the front yard, John. I was wondering the same thing. I guess they are people watchers. Or maybe they’re out there for people like you stroll in the neighborhood and need to take a little break. There certainly are a lot of sites to see in your neighborhood. Thanks for taking us along on your walk. We will probably have a dumpster in our driveway tomorrow, as we are getting a new roof. Have a great Sunday!

A new roof? I remember when we got one. What a pain. Good luck. 😀

Yes, we had hail damage. Our neighbors have already replaced theirs. We are using the same company and they were awesome! I just need to get some earplugs. 🙂

For sure. You are still working from home, right?

Boy! They are loud! They already have the old roof ripped off.

Hahaha. Then they’ll put on the weatherproof stuff and you won’t see them for two weeks. (I’m just sayin)

I did notice they had a security system too. All bases covered.

Too right. My new security camera gives me a motion alert every time the sun comes out from behind a cloud and reflects off the car windscreen!

The deer cause ours to bug us.

The doorbell can differentiate between humans and other movement, but the other camera (bought to a price) thinks any movement is reportable movement.

Yeah our doorbell does not do wind and trees. We have a flag out front and no report. When the deer approach the door we get an alert.

What’s FOMO? Also — that mid-century blue metal chair’s just like the ones on my grandmother’s front porch. They were for the big people. Kids had to take the swing or the steps.

Fear of Missing Out. Yes, they were big people chairs and depending how big they sort of mimicked a rocking chair. Thanks, Linda.

Thanks for taking us along, John. I love it when we have a dumpster, and I get a little jealous when I see one (when I don’t have one). I’m not sure I speak for everyone in this house 😏

Hahahaha. If it were my house a dumpster would be the last thing desired in the driveway. Have a super Sunday, Dan

That was a lovely tour… But I’m famished now from it. What kind of crostini? And do they come with a beer? 🍻 😉
LikeLiked by 1 person
There’s sangria but we can get a beer. The crostini is fresh tomato, basil, and mozzarella with aioli. Help yourself.

Thanks for the tour, John. I think you should invite Jennifer to help with your weeds. She might need a couple of extra votes. 😀

Always enjoy these Sunday views. I remember those types of lawn chairs.
Have to agree with you about the lounge chairs on the front lawn. Why not the back?

What a grand walk around your neighborhood, John! I enjoyed seeing the wind thingies and that beautiful crepe myrtle. Perhaps the dumpster is in preparation for a move out? And you weren’t kidding about a FAMILY of deer — wow, I’m guessing you didn’t have the girls with you on this walk, or those things would have bolted!

Lucy and Twiggy are respectful of the deer. The deer are pretty curious about them.

Thanks, John, for taking me on that walk. 🙂 I’ll pass on the Sangria and the Crostinis, though. I am looking forward to a “real” breakfast. 😉
Have a wonderful Sunday, and stay healthy,

Good pictures, John. You’re right. You don’t often see people sitting in the front yard these days. I used to love the big front porches with their porch swings. Have a good week. 🙂 — Suzanne

You know I love the yard sign in the third pic from the top! I want one! And the deer won my heart. Interesting … one buck and 5 does! No wonder they’re all tuckered out and resting in the shade! Thanks for the tour, John!

Excellent sharing, John. I have a theory about the two chairs in the front yard. Because of COVID-19, the people who live there are desperate to see other people, so sit hoping someone walks by they can wave at. 🙂

What a lovely neighborhood stroll! That last wind thingie is the sort of thing the gardener loves. The metal cactus is more the sort of thing my father used to love. I don’t think there is a single political sign on my street. I wonder why. Hmm.

Thank you for the tour, John! You do have a lovely neighborhood, and your neighbors really like their wind thingies. I did think of Luanne when I saw the yard with metal sculpture. Very creative. As for the lawn chairs on the front lawn, maybe those folks came from a place where people gathered on their front porch in the evenings and talked to each other. Or, like my family, they just like to see who’s coming and who’s going (i.e., nosy ;)).

The deer make great lawn ornaments 😊 Is the dust causing many breathing issues?

I wear a mask outside so for me it’s okay. I’ve heard of others having trouble. I have asthma so I need to stay away from stuff like that dust.

Gosh John, you have so many followers, I feel jealous.[Not an asset of course.]
I loved to see the U.S. flag flying. When my friend and I were in Boston Ma.4 yrs, back we couldn’t help but notice the number of stars and stripes on show even in the concert hall [Boston’s finest.]
For me the loveliest sights were the deer family and the beautiful tree.
Thanks for showing.

Haha, John, you always make me chuckle. By the way, that classic chair reminded me of how my grandparents would post themselves in chairs like that in the front of their Jersey shore bungalo to watch the parade of people walking up to and back from the beach. Happy neighborhood walking!
