Here we are getting close to the holidays. In Lakeway, there is a tradition called The Trail of Lights. This year Rona is not stopping the event. There will be distancing rules, but the trail will go on as usual. The lights go live in November. 20th. I thought it would be fun to go to the site and check out some of the preparations. Then after November 20th to come back and see what it all looks like.
We are going to take the bus and offload in the parking lot. There we will set up the lunch of Five-way Chili, salad, chips, salsa, and queso. We have a beer on tap and soft drinks. Five-way Chili is a Cincinnati original. It is pasta topped with chili, beans, onions, and cheese. Yeah, this is not your low, salt, fat, calorie meal. We also have Chicago for your entertainment.
So let’s get on and get going.

It’s important to keep traditions alive, and this is one that adapts well to the current odd circumstances. Whether it’s Diwali or Hanukkah or Christmas, I think everyone’s ready for a little light.

Thanks for the Bobcat shot, John. I enjoyed seeing these pictures. The preparation must involve a lot of work. Chicago is one of those bands I can always listen to. Maybe another scoop of that chili and a beer to wash it down.

Here, the Visitors’ Centre and the Chamber of Commerce are going apes with commercials plus shows to invited visitors to our Christmas lights display in the Marktplatz. I absolutely resent this irresponsible attitude as we all know that it will spread the virus.

I’m assuming this is a walking tour? We have something similar here, but it’s strictly drive-through (meaning it, too, should be fine during Rona!) Enjoyed the outing, John — nice to see that some things are impervious to the virus! Looking forward to seeing all those lights when they’re lit up.

Great idea! Question. What kind of pasta? What kind of beans? Why do you add beans to chili unless the chili doesn’t have beans to begin with? Is it good?

It’s called five way because you start with spaghetti, add chili. then beans, onion, and cheese. You can have your chilli without any one of the ingredients. Yes it is good in a mid-west kind if way.

Hmm. Not sure if it sounds great or if it sounds just off a bit ;). I am a fan of some midwestern food, since I grew up in Michigan. My go-to is tuna noodle casserole haha.

WOW!! That’s one thing I’m envious about when it comes to the US – you guys do celebrations so much better than down here. Typically, someone will hang a Christmas themed thong (flip flop) from their front door here. That’s about as far as the Aussie Christmas spirit gets.

This looks fabulous, I’d love for them to do this in the long walk at our local park for people to just stroll through at the moment, its the only thing we can do walk and work.
