Here is the schedule of events for the Fourth. Today we will be going to the parade. Since the City of Lakeway is buying hot dogs, chips, and drinks, we won’t need to cater for this event. Also, there are a few bands in the parade, so we won’t need outside entertainment. The parade is going right by us too, so we won’t even need the bus. How easy is that? One disclaimer. There were so many entrants in the parade I had to make judgment calls on who to include. I hope you enjoy it, and Happy Birthday to The United States of America.
The first responders presented the colors.
Reserve military band
World War Two Veteran recognition. A replica of the monument in the Freedom Park
Cheerleaders
The bookmobile.
Rolls Royce
Native American recognition.
The drumline.
Lake Travis Mountain Bike Team.
The cub scout float.
A flyover by some local pilots and being joined by a jealous bird.
I can’t even tell you why dinosaurs were in the parade.
Here are the hot dogs getting grilled.
Here is where we can sit down to eat the hot dogs. So make yourself comfortable, and I hope you have a fun holiday.
What a great parade. I especially liked the home-grown flyover, and I laughed at those dinosaurs. The replica of the monument was pretty cool, too. I’ve never seen anything like that in a parade, at least that I can remember. Happy Independence Day!

Looks like a fun combination of groups. The dinosaurs did seem out of place, but I’ve seen those costumes pop up everywhere during last 2 years. People just like getting them and running around in packs.

Great 4th of July photos, John. You chose well! I love the bird joining the flyover. I think they do that to let us know “it’s not that hard to fly.” The dogs look great. Two with mustard and onions, please.
Happy Independence Day!

We got to the dog stand at 10:00. A little too early for me but they smelled and looked great. Thanks, Dan.

Wait, too early for a hot dog? This is a foreign concept. Is this a Texas thing?

No just me. Certain things just don’t look good in the morning (Before noon) Hot dogs is one of them.

Fun way to celebrate, John! Our Canada Day was canceled this year after the horrifying discovery of over a thousand indigenous children’s graves at residential Catholic run schools across the country. It’s unbelievable something like that can go undetected for so long 😦

Aw, this is great, John. I think you did a wonderful job picking out which entries to showcase — I especially love the jealous bird and those goofy dinosaurs! Most of our parades end with a bunch of riders on horseback (nobody wants to follow the horses, ha!) Hope you’re having a lovely Fourth!

We used to have horses too but not this year. Thanks, Debbie.

I adore everything, but the CHEERLEADERS….YAY!!!
One day I hope to do a post about how I decided I was going to be a pro double baton twirler, when I was 35! LOL! Total comedy!
I think those were American Dinosaurs. They came for the kids.
Hope you didn’t eat too, many hot dogs!

Something about a hot dog at 9:30 in the morning causes my normally iron stomach to do a rain dance. It was not hard to pass but I have to admit they smelled good. The dinosaurs were a hoot and the wearers could be heard giggling too. Thanks, Resa.

I like the looks of your community, John. I’d settle for one hot dog rather than the 76 hot dogs that the guy ate in the hot dog eating contest today. Competitive eating just doesn’t seem like it belongs on ESPN. 🤣

That was the Nathens contest, I believe. 76 is a good number though. Spirit of 76 and all.

I know I’m horribly late for this one, John, but I saved it for when I could relax and enjoy your parade. It did my heart good to see so many people CELEBRATING Independence Day, and to see the red, white, and blue on cheerful display everywhere. 💗 I’m so glad I hung on to this post. Somehow I knew your community would do the holiday up right!
Hope you had a happy day, my friend! 🤗
