Hello again. Today we are going to wrap up the summer with a tour around the neighborhood. You can expect anything since this will be a random mix of some scenes from the last week.
Our catered brunch is from Tiny Boxwoods in Austin. Our entertainment is the Boss Bruce Springsteen.
Menu
- Our white wine today -Domaine de la Meulière Chablis 2018 – Burgundy, France
- Our red wine today – Château Patrabet Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2016 – Bordeaux, France
- Top-shelf cocktails, soft drinks, endless coffee and tea
The bus is ready.
Our first stop begins a study in trash oddities. A comfy chair is no longer required.
An office chair on the way out.
Looks like work at home took its toll on this one.
Forget the shade.
Now a nice deer family. Mom, dad, and the kids.
“I love my geodome.”
“Mom. Quit scratching and look at that man over there.”
Getting ready for Halloween. Tree of ghouls and giant skeleton.
Whoops, like magic. A one-eyed minion and caldron have been added. We need to come back as the collection grows.
A big ole chunk of celestine on a mailbox.
For those of you who don’t live in the Austin area, the idea of a Tiny Pies moving into your neighborhood means little. But, for us, it is like the 21st century has finally reached our door.
These are, for the most part, one serving pies in savory and sweet selections. (We like to split ours) They do have select family sizes as well. (our favorite is King Ranch Casserole pie)
They are made fresh every day.
They have a take and bake option too. This is the way we used to do it when we had to drive 40 minutes each way. Now they are five minutes away, so maybe we’ll let them bake ours.
I hope you enjoyed the tour, and thank you for your patience while I raved about Tiny Pies. Sit back. Have some food and listen to the Boss.
We used to have an excellent Cornish Pasty (my favourite was the spicy mince beef filling) shop in town, but sadly, it had to close because of the pandemic, it’s replacement is a Yorkshire Pudding shop where the make and fill them daily with all sorts of fillings.

I’ll have the Mother’s Breakfast, thank you.
Some people are getting ahead of themselves for Halloween, don’t ya think?
I never head of Tiny Pies, but they sure do have a variety of tasty treats.

They are exclusive to Austin. Tasty is a good description. 😊

Did I miss National Chair Throw Away Day? 😉 People sure are getting an early start on their Halloween decorations! Fun tour, John! Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday.

Wow, can’t believe folks are already decorating for Halloween. Bet they will have the Thanksgiving turkey perched in the yard soon, too. And that Tiny Pies place looks awesome, John. Having such an establishment just 5 minutes from our home would be a killer for my hubby, he of the inveterate sweet tooth…🙄 Have a great Sunday!

I think it takes time to build their display

Yes. They are nuts for the holiday.

There is a household a few miles away from us that is also nuts for Halloween. The display doesn’t look too bad at night when it’s lit up, but during the day, it looks like vandals trashed their yard.

I can imagine. Since this house is painted purple everything seems to fit.

Those office chairs and the comfy chair would be gone in 5 minutes here in Spain. I am always happy that someone else is able to get use out of my discards. You can never go wrong with a tune from The Boss!

I think I’ll have the Southside with the white wine this morning, John. I’ve not heard of Tiny Pies, but if we had one, I’d be a customer for sure. Halloween already? Give me a break! Next, they’ll have Christmas decorations up!

Thanks Noelle. We need to slow down for sure.

I’ve never heard of Tiny Pies before — interesting menu. Even more interesting are the office chairs biting the dust. Golly, it looks as though your neighborhood at least is heading back to the office. If it were me, I’d be hanging onto those chairs a bit longer — ya never know!

You do never know. Debbie. I think I would hang on to them too. Thanks for the visit.

Living in Canada, I’ve never heard of the chain “Tiny Pies” – however after seeing this post I wish we had one too.
Also, isn’t it just a tad early to be decorating for Halloween????

I think it is a little early, Lynne but Halloween is a very special time for these folks and they start early.Wait till you see the whole array.

If there was a Tiny Pies here, I’d only be cooking two nights a week. Halloween already? CVS has their stuff out. Please, I’m still in summer mode.

As to the trash(cans): here, the ids have to be closed or you risk a fine. And things that are out next to the trash cans are never taken. We don’t have different trash cans, either. There’s no

Our pickup will take anything. If you have something unusual you have to call the service and let them know. They will then tell you when it is scheduled.

Happy Sunday, John. I love your photo of the little deer under the geodome. How darling! It brought more than a few smiles, as did some of the chairs. I’d be glad to toss mine as well, but our furniture hasn’t arrived yet and sitting on the floor requires getting back up. 😁

People throw away good stuff in your area. Here we donate unwanted furniture to charities, schools, or churches. The pies look very nice. We buy pies for the home bake in batches of 10. They are a nice easy meal for during the week.

We are having dessert pies tonight. I’m with you on the donation but some of those chairs were beyond donating, Thanks, Robbie.

I’ll have a fruit & yogurt parfait … there will be enough left for dinner tonight! The one chair … I believe that family owns cats. Mine and Goose’s desk chairs both look just like that! And now … you are killing me with the Tiny Pies!!! Only in Austin, eh? My mouth began watering just looking at them, then seeing the descriptions … be still my heart!!! Thanks for the fun Sunday morning, John!

What is striking for me in your photos s the absence, mostly, of humans. Try taking a pic in India without a human in it…
