Thursday – A Little Personal – Back to the Deep Freeze.

“Hey, Lucy. How about a ruckus?”

“Might be a good idea after we go outside.”

“Outside? Looks like it is cloudy and cold.”

“Oh, come on. It can’t be that bad.”

“So ask dad if he has the temperature handy.”

“Hey, Boss. Could you give us a read on the temperature?”

“Be happy to, Lucy. Hmmm, right now, it’s 32 degrees F or 0 degrees C., and the Dow is down 66 points.”

“Hold on. Yesterday it was 85 degrees F which is 29.4 degrees C. Never mind the Dow.”

“Yeah, I know, but you have to remember. You live in Texas and have to be prepared for temperature changes. I do want to forget the Dow.

“Wow, Lucy. I’m going to make this quick.”

“Right behind you, Little One.”

“Throw yourself against the door, Lucy. This is an emergency.”

“I think a scratch will do the job.”

“So a scratch will do the job, huh? Now we freeze to death.”

“Patience, Little one. Mom’s coming.”

“Sure is nice to be inside.”

“It is Little One. I think it’s time for a nap.”

And so we leave our heroes while they take a well-earned break from the trials and tribulations of living the life of a pampered pet.

“Whoever is talking, we are trying to rest here.”

  1. Cute one, John. I love your dog-whisperer Thursdays. As for the Dow, I suspect watching it these days might be a dizzying pastime. BTW, our temps have fallen into the low teens. ❄❄❄

  2. Pampered is an understatement. And, by the way, I wish it was only down 66, YIKES! I notice the coverings, do they shed? Our Daisy sheds so much, I can build a new dog every few weeks…

    1. Yes they do shed. They both have hair but it gets on everything. We just replaced the couches with white. The previous were grey and had a slat and pepper look because of the dogs. Now we won’t notice.

      1. But you gotta love ‘em. I’ll find Daisy’s hair rolling down the hall like a tumbleweed. The return ducts suck it in as does the fan underneath the refrigerator. What a mess. But you gotta love ‘em…

  3. The girls think the same way I do. During cold weather, any outdoor activity is as quick as I can make it. Then it’s time for lighting the fireplace and getting comfortable. 🙂

Stay warm and as sane as possible.

  4. Wow, that’s a big temperature drop. We’ve hit 20 degrees last two nights. I don’t blame the girls its naptime when it gets that cold.

  5. Don’t we all wish we could nap like Twiggy. The sleep of the innocent. And unsuspecting. While on vacation myself (avoiding the highs and lows of NE weather which is even more variable than yours) I’ve been trying to steer clear from any Dow numbers. Like your girls, we know that no sleep is possible while watching the news of wars and stocks. 😦

  6. No frost can keep the Twiggy Resort from a good nap! Thank you, dear John! By the way, it is frosty here as well. Winter does not sy farewell to us yet. 🙂

      1. I have one of the furriest cats in the world. There is no hope.
I am choking and coughing. Still, he is sweet and adorable.
Oh, and we both wear a lot of black.
I got flagged at the airport several years back. They thought I was trying to smuggle a cat on board.

  7. It’s a rough job, but somebody has to do it. It seldom gets to freezing in our neck of the woods, but it dipped to freezing level last night.

  8. I lived in Texas for 11 years and experienced extremes in temps, especially while living in the Hill Country. But these extremes overnight are far from typical. Same thing going on with my kids up in Nebraska. Stay warm ladies!
