Today we will take a trip to Lakeway Park to check out the String-A-Palooza. This is an event put on by school districts in and around Lakeway. Middle and grade school students all converge for a day of playing string instruments in and having fun.
We are catered today by Odd Duck of Austin. Our entertainment is Amadeus – The Electric String Quartet (of course)
Menu
Corn ribs, shiitake dressing, dukkah, cilantro relish
Gulf seafood ceviche, coconut purée, pear aguachile, tostada

Aged pork loin, whey gravy, butternut squash, shishito, salsa matcha
Wagyu sirloin cap, fried egg queso, potato, mushroom, chorizo vinaigrette

So let’s get going.
A string band is there for entertainment at noon.
A little bluegrass music.
Volleyball and games.
Lunch break.
Viola cases attest to the serious nature of the event.
Fans and parents listening to the music.
Practice makes perfect. (or nearly so)
Burn a little energy while waiting to perform.

As GP said, it’s good for kids to be exposed to some culture. I think developing a love for music helps the kids’ attitude in life. Having fun while doing it moves it along. 🙂

I’m impressed with all the community events in your area.
We have a few, but not enough to write weekly about.
The menu is a tad hefty for me, so I’mm just going to eat desserts. Apple-lemongrass sorbet, chocolate cake and pear upside down cake. That should hold me!

PS. I actually thought that the String-A-Palooza was going to be an event where everyone shows up with string they’d saved up all year. Then they would tie the strings together and break the world’s record.

What a great event … and it looks like a perfectly clear day showed up for it! When you said “String-a-Palooza,” I thought people showed up with that canned string and decorated a park and themselves! This was much nicer.

When I read Stringapalooza, I honestly had no idea what this could be, but I’m such a fan of string instruments. I always wanted to play the cello. What a fun way to spend the day.

This is wonderful! Thank goodness music and string instruments are a part of elementary and middle school kids. And, thank goodness they have an opportunity to perform for the community.
