Tuesday – Anything Possible -Finger Point Prompt – “Face”

I randomly opened Detour on the Eternal Road to page 205. With my eyes closed I pointed to the page. The word closest to my finger was “face.” That is the prompt today.

Face by John W. Howell © 2024

“That was an about face.”

“What do you mean?”

“You said you would support me in front of the boss.”

“I did support you.”

“Oh, really?”

“Now, what’s that supposed to mean?”

“Well, if you don’t know then I don’t know what to say.”

“How about you quit running around the bush and come out with it.”

“It bewilders me that you don’t know what I’m talking about.”

“You are mad cause you think I didn’t support you in there.”

“Damn right.”

“But I don’t understand why you think I didn’t support you.”

“Okay if I have to spell it out. When the boss asked, “What’s this?” you immediately looked at me.”

“I did. I wanted to see what you were going to say.”

“You dope. She immediately thought  I was the culprit.”

“Well, you were.”

“I know, but you said you would cover for me.”

“I would have had it not been so plain that you were the one.”

“How was it so plain?”

“Dogs don’t bring dead mice into the house.”

“I couldn’t help it.”

“You said you were getting mom a present. How was I to know that was it.”

“Okay, okay. You are forgiven.”

‘Thanks.”

This is why our cats were always inside cats. Great job on the prompt, John.

Sorry about the duplicate, but I recorded this comment process so maybe the Happiness Engineers can figure this out.

Better than a live slobber covered mouse. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hahaha, this is too funny. Yeah, cats do like to leave little presents behind 🐁 although I am grateful for the pest control! Happy Tuesday, John!

Good one, John! Forgiveness is a great ending. A dead mouse in the house is better than a live one.

My cats are all indoor only cats. When we had to pull everything out from the walls to have the inside of our garage painted–that was when we realized our once outdoor cats had been stashing all our ‘gifts’ there–dead lizards.

But it is the thought that counts. 😹

This made me laugh! I could imagine the looks on the animals faces – I gather a dog and a cat. I used to get lots of ‘gifts’ from our cats when it was safe for them to be outside (long ago) – baby bunnies (still alive and kicking), dead birds, dead mice, and a squirrel’s head (yuck!).

I’m very lucky – my two cats don’t catch anything. One doesn’t like going outside and the other can’t be bothered! Nice story, John.

So… I’m taking it the boss did not appreciate the gift. They can be so hard to please. As for his buddy, he didn’t really want to snitch on him!

    Always fun stuff, John.

The appreciation was short-lived. He didn’t want to, but in the end he did. Oh well it all ended okay. Thanks, Dale.

It was a virtual mouse, so we can say no animals were hurt in this story. 😀

Our cat brought us a live mouse the other day and I about came unglued. Luckily, The Mister was there to deal with it. He put the mouse outdoors. For hours, though, Binxie was looking for it all over the house for his new toy. Sorry, Binx! lol

One reason for not having cats! Of course, the other is that Monk would terrorize it all day every day, and I wouldn’t get anything done for having to keep them separated!

These stories are so fun, trying to guess where you’re going. Makes me wonder what my daughter would do if given this present. Being mostly indoor, not sure how either of her cats would react if they saw one!
