Today, I randomly opened Detour on the Eternal Road to page 115. With eyes closed, I pointed to the page. My finger landed right between “handsome” and “guy.” Our prompt today is “handsome guy.”

“Oh, look over there.”
“Where?”
“On the park bench.”
“You mean that handsome guy?”
“Yes, I mean that handsome guy. Isn’t he gorgeous?”
“Well, I don’t know. I’m not sure he’s my type.”
“Oh, come on. What’s not to like?”
“He looks a bit arrogant for my taste.”
“How can you tell that?”
“See how he doesn’t look around. He knows he’s handsome and is putting on a show.”
“Well, maybe he is in deep thought.”
“Ha. Guys like that don’t think.”
“You seem a little jaded.”
“I suppose I am.”
“Spill the beans. What happened?”
“It’s a long story.”
“We have plenty of time.”
“Okay, I’ll make it short. Last spring, I ran into a guy who looked very much like that one.”
“Go on.”
“Well, I thought we were getting along fine when one day I saw him with someone else.”
“What did you do?”
“I confronted him.”
“And?”
“He took off.”
“OMG. He didn’t respond?”
“No, he spread those red cardinal wings of his and flew away.”
“You are better off without him.”
“I’m not sure. I went all last season without a chick.”
“You’ll find someone. Come with me while I glide by that bench.”

Cute story John! They mate for life so best pick the right one!! ❤️❤️‼️

Cardinals look like they’d be vain and arrogant.

I was so sure it was going to be a dog! And Charles is right, cardinals do look vain and arrogant.

Yes, they do have lovely songs. Sometimes on my walks, I can hear them. I call out “Where are you hiding?” And then a flash of red…

Usually works in the end. I have not seen any cardinals in divorce court.

Cardinals are indeed handsome. It’s always a treat when you spot one. And it’s nice to see the birds do things the old fashioned way. No online dating for them!

Ha ha I did not expect that. That’s a good story. I’ve been writing about birds too lately. My latest super fact post is “Birds Are Avian Dinosaurs” and 5 days ago I posted “10 Wind Blowing Facts About Birds”. It reminds me I need to fill bird seeds in our Birdfy house.
