Author Bio

MICHAEL LYNES is a serial entrepreneur who has founded several startup ventures.
He enjoys dry red wine and the occasional single malt scotch. When not occupied with arcane engineering projects, he spends his time playing with his two grandchildren, baking bread, feeding seasoned hardwood into his ancient Timberline wood stove, working on his various cars, bird watching, and taking amateur photographs. His current menagerie includes one short-haired turtle shell cat and a pair of actual turtles. Mr. Lynes was awarded a BSEE degree in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and currently works as an embedded software engineer. He has a consuming interest in the science of emotion as promulgated by Dr. Paul Ekman and has made a comprehensive study of his Face and Emotion courses.

He has four sons, has been married for over thirty years, and currently lives with his wife and youngest son in the beautiful secluded hills of Sussex County, New Jersey.

“With a career as a professional animator, illustrator and scriptwriter I’ve always been involved in the creative process, one way or another. People have said it tends to give me a visual, even filmic approach to my writing.

Wanting to explore my writing in more depth I undertook an MA in Professional Writing at Falmouth University, graduating in 2011. Since then I’ve written a good deal of short fiction, won a couple of prizes and had several stories published. In 2014, I edited and published an anthology Between Stops, featuring the work of several edgy writers along with some of my own.

After years of being trendy in Brighton, I now live as an eccentric in an idyllic part of rural Devon, but then, Devon is full of eccentrics.”

I read Rosetta and enjoyed it immensely. The writing is tight, and the story moves quickly.

My guest today is Stuart Hotchkiss the author of a spellbinding memoir Southern Fried Fiction available on Amazon.

Southern Fried Fiction is about Stuart Hotchkiss is at the end of his rope. Underemployment, bankruptcy, and a looming third divorce have worn him down. His mother has died. He’s estranged from his own son. Death seems like a release.

The son of a once significant Southern family, Hotchkiss spent his early life struggling to escape familial expectations and secrets. He paid for his own education and eventually secured a position as president of a national media conglomerate, only to resign a year later and bring senseless litigation that rendered him permanently underemployed.
