Award-winning author Gwen M. Plano and I are launching our Inspirational Thriller, The Contract between heaven and earth, on June 4th. We would like to do an announcement tour beginning on June 4th through June 17th. If you would like to help, please send an e-mail to johnhowell(dot)wave(at)gmail.com. The earth is under the threat of a catastrophic political event which could result in international warfare and destroy all life on the planet. In heaven, a divine council decides that extraordinary measures are essential. They call for an intervention that involves two souls returning to earth. The chosen two sign a contract that they will work to avert the disaster.

Brad Channing, a Navy SEAL, and Sarah O’Brien, a teacher, become heaven’s representatives on earth. The story follows them as they individually and then together face overwhelming obstacles and eventually end up on a strategic Air Force base in California. It is there that they discover a conspiracy to assassinate the President of the United States. The terrorists have a plan for global dominance, and they are determined to complete their mission. Although military leadership appears to have the President’s best interests at heart, it is not clear who can be trusted and who should be feared. The action is rough and tumble as Brad and Sarah try to figure out the culprits of the plot that will turn into a worldwide conflagration unless stopped.

If you enjoy thrillers, this is one with enough twists and adventure to keep you riveted and guessing. If you like your thriller along with a good romance, Brad and Sarah’s initial attraction and eventual love will sustain you as they live out their heavenly and earthly desires.

Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

I’m glad to see Friday come around. We had a cold and rainy week. I know the rain is needed but I certainly missed the sun this week. We are expecting another cold front this weekend so I think the cycle one day sun, six days cloudy will continue. For an area that has over 325 days of sunshine a year, this is unusual.

One nice thing this week. Gwen and I decided (Well, we think we have decided) on the cover for our collaboration, The Contract. Here is a peek at the design as it stood last week. We asked for a few little adjustments so this is not the final but will give you an idea. We hope you like it.

Calling All Beta Readers

Uncle John and Aunt Gwen need you

Gwen M. Plano and I have just finished our book collaboration titled The Contract. We are looking for beta readers to give us some feedback on the manuscript before a professional edit. We would like to have the story in the beta readers hands no later than January 1st. We would appreciate the comments back to us by February 16th. This due date will give the beta readers six weeks to read and comment.

The information that we would like to know

1 Did you enjoy the story?

2 Were there any parts of the story that were confusing?

3 Were there any missing plot points?

4 Were the characters believable?

5 Did you have any feelings about the characters?

6 Was the ending satisfactory?

7 What if anything would you want to be included in the story that would make it more enjoyable for you?

We have made every effort to make the manuscript publish-ready. Since this is a version that has not had the benefit of a professional edit we do not expect you to make any suggestions unless you see something that an editor could miss. Once we receive your comments and make adjustments to the manuscript, if necessary, we will then submit it for a professional edit

Here is the blurb.

The Contract is a story of two souls who must venture to Earth to stop a catastrophic event that is threatening the viability of the planet. They will have no memory of their eternal life once they occupy the bodies chosen for them. The two must deal with the situation using only the temporal skills of their host beings. They sign a contract before leaving their celestial home that stipulates what is required. They commit even though they have no guarantee of success but cannot resist the ultimate reward which is a personal anointing by the Creator. There is no alternative for failure.

If you enjoy thrillers, this is one with a twist designed to keep you riveted and guessing. It bridges the heavenly and earthly realms and only when the adventure is complete, will it be learned if Peter and Teresa have fulfilled their sacred contract or have become corrupted by the forces of evil.
