Such a good feeling when you have put your best effort into something. It is really rewarding when the result of the effort is something you are proud to call your own.
One great thing about being a writer is there are times when no matter how grim things may seem, there is a breakthrough which makes you want to dance around the room. Of course, no one else could possibly appreciate your moment of absolute joy. (unless they have similar moments)
When I worked in organized commerce, I never had as many of the breakthrough feelings as I have as a writer. I have to admit, I never had as many moments of self-doubt then either. I think a writer’s life is a matter of trying to savor the high moments knowing the low ones will be there as well. In organized commerce, I don’t believe I ever knew when to savor what. Just when you thought it was time to savor, there was some boss asking questions about your happiness. Today’s John Ku (a term coined by Words4jp) is titled High and Low. Hope you like it.

Rising to the top,
Savoring the latest joy . . .
Until the plummet.

I so need a few of those breakthrough moments. I’m just mopey because I’ve been sidelined for so long. Congrats on the progress.

Trust me. This week has seen no writing. Not sure what to talk about on the Sunday post. It was all kid time.

Enjoy the plummeting, as well. Shock the hell out of them, I say.
Enjoy your weekend, John.

Sounds a lot like a roller coaster. Writing as thrill ride…

A great Johnku John. What goes up must come down. It sounds like your writing is coming along well. Organised commerce is seemingly less rewarding than writing, though maybe not in the financial sense. Evidently you have done enough organised commerce for one lifetime.

I really have. You know money isn’t everything. There is a point when it becomes the last consideration (which is when you have enough to live)

Oye, that plummet always seems to come faster and faster with each victory in the world of organized commerce…

And notice everyone notices the plummet but not everyone will acknowledge the victory

Great John Ku 🙂 Had to laugh at your remark about the boss asking questions about your happiness! in all my years in Finance I don’t believe I was asked once if I was happy 😀 but I can certainly relate to those breakthrough moments in writing and life where you just have to get up and boogie!

Thank you Yolanda. You were lucky to be asked once.

I read your comment that you were asked once. My comment said at least you were asked. I take that back. Welcome to normal.
