Friday is here at last. Today’s margarita is going to be replaced by a steaming cup of mulled cider, I just can’t place an ice-cold drink in your hand when you have a glove on it. I suppose y’all have the same weather issues so we should be glad we can get into the warm to enjoy something hot as we begin to look forward to the holidays. Today’s JohnKu (a term coined by Words4jp) celebrates our ability to control our comfort but asks that we think of those less fortunate including the fur people. The title is Cold and hope you enjoy it.

The first of winter,
Creeps in on chilly footfalls . . .
To torture the poor.

Nice, John! I agree, something hot to drink is a must when morning low temps are in the 20’s.

There’s such a thing as too cold for margaritas? Then again, I went to college in upstate NY where the snow acted as a free beer cooler and source of ice.

Thanks for the mulled cider … and with an with an early-in-the-season 2-week winter blast, wishing comfort to those who have to find it.

Great johnku! I may eschew cold drinks for a while, but room temperature red wine will warm me up nicely. My cat Junior doesn’t understand why I can’t warm up the outdoors for him. Lately, when I let him out for his morning jaunt, he looks back at me accusingly, like somehow I’m responsible for his little kitty toes to get so cold 😉

Our last outdoor cat did the same. He would try to keep one foot off the ick. He would also meow in protest.

I love it when I open the front door, Junior dashes out, and then stops before he even clears the entryway. His whole body just seems to shrink from the cold. Then he’ll turn around and dash right back in. And we may repeat that little activity several times until finally (1) he just accepts the cold and stays out; (2) mom/dad go off to work and he’s stuck indoors all day 😉

i toast your cider with my coffee:) it is so easy to get caught up in our discomfort with the cold/snow and forget about those who do not have a coat like own or even a warm place to live.

So true. Makes us take stock of our complaints as to their relevance

How well to remember those less fortunate. We have a large homeless population here in Florida and they seek refuge in the mental hospitals and shelters when the weather turns. That has to be a tough way to life. We had a cold front move through and the fifties seemed like twenties with the wet, cold wind. Brrrr.

Never tried mulled cider before John. Personally I’d prefer a mulled margarita, as I’m not a big cider fan. We’ve been hearing about the cold weather sweeping across the U.S. Good JohnKu.

A little cool breeze won’t keep me from the warmth of that frozen tequila glass. Enjoy your weekend, John
