Friday is here again. The deadline for some of us oldsters to straighten out the medical coverage is December 31 and it keeps getting closer. (The regular Medicare deadline is December 7th (ironic)). I am in a special group of people whose company has decided to off me from retirement medical and to allow me the luxury of finding my own plans. Well, at least I was given a little time to try to figure it out. Today’s JohnKu (a term coined by Words4jp) reflects some concern about looming deadlines on such important stuff like medical care. Its title is Time Bomb. Hope you like it.

The clock is wired,
To some big sticks called health care. . .
Tick, tock not much time.

Really hate healthcare. My dad has had to spend the last 2 Decembers looking for a new plan because the program he was on suddenly got cancelled. Whoever invented health insurance and made it a maze of red tape should have their humanity revoked.

One where everything they have is a pre-existing condition or not covered because of some BS. Maybe a plan that only covers hangnails on the left pinky finger, but you need to report it within 5 seconds of it appearing. The reporting line is always a 6 second wait.

Good luck with meeting your deadline. Unfortunately, health insurance is the main reason I’ll probably keep working long past the time I want to work. I never want to have to use it, but I don’t want to gamble my or my husband’s life without it either. While I’m working, it’s affordable. But when I hear about what some retired people our age are paying in premiums, my stomach starts doing backflips.

So true. Really pays to think about old age when young. (savings)

Good luck, John. I’m in the same position as Marie. I’ll keep working until I’m no longer able to walk from my car to the building because I need to be covered by my employer. With several pre-existing conditions, I can’t get coverage on my own without first winning the lottery. Oh well…such is life. I’m thankful for my job.

Yes, I understand. Medicare is pretty good and is required if you are no longer working for the man.

Lately, it seems health care is on everyone’s mind. Good luck.

Since we live longer it becomes something that needs careful mangement.

Without management, we’d have chaos. The trouble is the health care system for many is chaos. Sad.

Good JohnKu. Hope you find the medical coverage that you deserve John. We’ve got the National Health Service over here, but it may well collapse one of these days.

Hope not.

Same thing happened to my mom, John. She put in 25 years, and they still took away the option of letting her maintain her own plan when she retired. Good luck.

I think I was there last year, but I had a lot of words so I don’t remember much.
