This week was very unusual on the Gulf Coast. We were caught in a weather pattern called an Omega High (so named because of the jet stream shape resembling the Greek letter Omega). This Omega High caused the winds to die down to zero and as a result, the Gulf took on a calm as if it were a lake. Here is a photo of the calm.

Calm, peaceful fabulous.
Looks like the sort of day I wouldn’t mind being in a boat (I do not travel at all well on water).

Yes. Normally the seas are at about two feet. This makes a small boat uncomfortable.

Yes they are. The one thing we have been amazed with is how the beach and Gulf look different every day.

That looks like a great day to be out on the water. I’ve been out in 20 foot seas before, and the roller coaster idea wears off fast.

Wow, that is a big difference. The top photo is so calm and peaceful, but the bottom one is what I love to watch. It is much more interesting with the roughness and the whitecaps.

We’ve been in that Omega pattern, too, but we seem to have had endless rain. It comes and goes, and just when you think it’s gone for good, another wave swoops in. Your calm Gulf looks much nicer than that rough view, though I kind of enjoy seeing things stirred up now and then. Hope your wife enjoys her Mother’s Day!
