Thursday – A Little Personal

Since I have hauled back into honest work, I have had to sacrifice some of the fun of being an author for the sake of the available time. One of the joys of being an indie author is formatting the manuscript for publication. You know, the four or five late nights as you struggle with getting the Create Space and Kindle formats in place. Let’s not mention the euphoria that comes with getting a table of contents working. Oh Yeah!

Jo Robinson

Well, I’m pleased to report I outsourced my most favorite activity next to a sharp stick in the eye. Jo Robinson who you know as a talented author provides services to Indie authors. You can go HERE  to check them all, but she was a Godsend when it came time to do the formatting work on the next John J. Cannon Thriller which I needed badly.

So thank you, Jo. You save my butt and I am now a believer in professional formatting.

  1. Sounds like a wise decision. The thought of the headaches formatting problems would cause sends me running for the Tylenol.

  2. Jo is doing some work for me on my Kindle version. I’m am just Wow’D at how easy she is to work with. I wish I had known about her before working with CreateSpace on the print version. They have given me nothing but grief. I will most definitely hire her services with my next book, botth print and eversion. Highly impressed with her work and highly recommend.

  3. John, you’re a wise man to know when too much is too much. And to surround yourself with pros who can take off some of the load! Great decision, I’d say.

  4. I heartily agree! I found Jo through Chris, bought her Indie book, then hired her to help me with my first e-book. I was so overwhelmed and she encouraged me and walked me through the steps. She is a treasure with which to work!

  5. Seriously? Formatting was always my most favorite thing to do when I worked as a word processing operator (NOT!). Glad to have this recommendation, John. I know I’m not a Jane of All Trades and I dread the whole formatting adventure 😉

  6. I have never attempted the formatting on my own. I’m way too busy and too chicken to try it, so have always had it professionally done. Thanks for sharing, John. Hope you’re enjoying being back on a payroll!

  7. Hmm….editing.
I’m thinking of stitching together The Wrong Stuff and that’s going to need a lot of titivating to remove all the “weekly update” repetitive elements, I think.
I haven’t read it back from the start since I started it, I don’t even know how many words it is, let alone if it’ll make sense, hahaha.
