Views of the Neighborhood

It is time to change my header on Fiction Favorites. I have some photos that could be in contention for the job. Rather than me making the selection, I thought it might be fun to show you the candidates and let you choose the most favored. There is a poll at the bottom for you to use to record your choice. So here they are. One thing that struck me as I lined these photos up was how different the same position on the beach (looking East) is in reality

The first is a long shot of a stormy day. Candidate #1

A cold day with blowing sand CandidateΒ #5

As always, thank you for your help. The winner will be posted on the header next week.

    1. Thank you for the reblog. πŸ™‚

  1. These were all great pictures, John, but I preferred Picture #2. πŸ™‚ — Suzanne

    1. Thanks, Suzanne. Looks like you are in the majority. πŸ™‚

  2. All the pictures are beautiful but you want a header that is completely different from what you have now. Just my opinion.

    1. Good point. I keep coming back to the East shot of the water and maybe in the spring I should go to something else. The Gulf is a very big part of who I am. Maybe I’m too close to my pal. Thanks, Pam. πŸ™‚

  3. Good morning, John. This was fun. While I get another cup of coffee, here — have a piece of cinnamon toast.
Definitely the sunrise! What better representation for a new year than a sunrise. It has the bold contrast of light/dark plus the drama of the clouds (but with out the risk of the storm situation. It looks like a glorious day ahead. My second choice would be the cold day blowing sand. The shades of blue are pretty and the sand is interesting.
Have a sublime Sunday. Mega hugs.

    1. You make the best cinnamon toast. Thank you. I like the idea of looking forward to a glorious day. That blowing sand photo was taken Saturday morning. It was really cold. Hugs.

  4. These are all beautiful shots, John. I was really drawn to number three. Happy Sunday!

    1. Thank you Jill. Have a great Sunday too. πŸ™‚

  5. 2 seems more eye-catching without the very bright spots.

    1. The problem when you try to take a shot East is those bring spots are continually a problem. Thanks, Charles.

      1. No problem. Makes sense with the direction. Still you got a great sunbeam shot.

  6. I love #2. I’ve always liked sun ray pictures as they give me a sense of hope on the horizon. It’s soft and simple, yet eye-catching.

    1. Thank you, Susan. I have been fascinated by the rays as well. The Gulf displays the sun so well.

  7. Okay, John, now I know how busy you are (and how much of an aggravation redesigning can be!), but I’m going to offer a suggestion. How about using ALL of these candidates? Not at the same time, of course, but maybe rotating them out monthly or whenever you feel the need for something different? Don’t shoot me!!

    1. No that is a good idea. I have been neglectful of my header. I used to do it once a quarter. Great idea, Debbie. Thanks. πŸ™‚

      1. Whew, I hate making suggestions and creating more work for people — thanks for taking it so bravely!

      2. Always welcome. You have great suggestions and I appreciate them. πŸ™‚

  8. Although I liked #2 a lot, I preferred #3 because it is different, I love the colours – it grabbed my attention more than the others. Have fun with the voting – a great idea, Mr. John!

    1. Thank you, John. I love these polls.

  9. #4 Hands down! Angel Clouds!

    1. Thank you, Jan. I like the thought of angel clouds πŸ™‚

  10. Wow, all quite striking. Tough choices, but I like the lights and shadows of #3.

    1. Thank you, Phillip. I like it too. πŸ™‚

  11. I voted for three, but they’re all good. I just like thunderheads.

    1. You and me both. I don’t know what the fascination is but it’s there.

  12. Kind of a toss-up between 3 & 4 for me, but I like ‘interesting’ weather, so I went for 3 to vote for. πŸ˜€

  13. All wonderful photos, John. It wasn’t an easy vote. Hope you are happy with the outcome. Happy Sunday. πŸ™‚

    1. Happy Sunday to you, Tess. Thanks.

      1. You are welcome, John.

  14. Breathtaking pics, John.
This is my favorite feature; you amaze me every week.

    1. Thank you for the reblog. πŸ™‚

  15. That was a tough decision – but it looks like I’m with the majority on this one.

    1. Great, Teri. Thanks for the vote.

    1. Thank you, Audrey. πŸ™‚

  16. They’re all beautiful!

  17. […] to cut in front of a long line of people who were waiting to enter a popular bar. She ran into John Howell’s frequent character, Tiny the bouncer. Literally, she ran into him. Tiny said: β€œshe took a three-point-stance like a […]

  18. I was very tempted to vote for #3 but went for #5. πŸ˜€ Gotta love the blue sky, white fluffy clouds and the beach.

    1. Thank you, Hugh. Appreciate your vote. πŸ™‚

  19. Nice photos. That isolated thunderstorm is awesome.

      1. You’re welcome

  20. I loved #1 and #2 voted for #1 but it’s going down to defeat. I’m just partial to God Rays. πŸ™‚

    1. I like rays myself (I guess that’s why I took the shot Ha ha ha.) Thanks for your vote.
