Views of the Neighborhood

As the weather improved the spring breakers, all finally showed up.  Rather than show photos of humanity at its worst, I thought I would concentrate on the more attractive side of crowds. I decided to show you some of the kites that have been flying over the beach.

The first photo is of the store where the kites are born.Kites in Port A

Here is a selection of some of their kites, flags, and windsocks.

Kites of Port A

This one looks like an airplane

Kites over Port Aransas

I happen to catch a guy in a powered kite.

This one has an alien look to it.

This one looks like a shark swimming in the wind.

Here is a very colorful one

I liked this collection. The jellyfish was very attractive

Here is a shot of a flamingo in flight

A butterfly

A hurricane, margarita, palm tree and bird in flight

And finally a beautiful parrot

I hope you have enjoyed these views. Sorry, this post was a little late today. Hope you have a beautiful Sunday.

  1. Great looking against a proper sky. Were they all single-stringers, or were there any two-stringed stunt kites?

    1. There was one stunt kite but I couldn’t get a proper shot. It was too fast for my camera. 🙂

  2. Those make for some great pictures.

  3. Awesome. Certainly better than the drunken, sunburnt revelry.

    1. I agree. Thanks, Charles.

So beautiful against the blue sky…

    1. Perfect day yesterday. 🙂

  5. Fantastic kites, John. I hope you have a great Sunday also.

    1. Thanks, Suzanne. 😀

  6. They’re all so beautiful – looks like the perfect day to go fly a kite! 😎

  7. A sublime Sunday post, John. I find kites captivating. The parrot is especially pretty, but all are colorful fun. Mega hugs!

    1. Thank you, Teagan. Super Sunday to you. Hugs. 🙂

  8. These are beautiful John. Great photos and so much better than the great drunken hoard or some kid tossing his cookies in the storm sewer.

    1. Ha ha ha. I agree. Thanks, Dan

  9. Thanks for the great pictures, John – colourful indeed! Thanks to Keith for the YouTube link – I had never heard of stunt kites before… I need to get out more!

    1. Thanks, John. It is a small world isn’t it?

  10. The Internet is magical, eh!

    1. Canada to France to the USA in an instant. I would say. 😀

      1. And you can’t beat the travel time or the price!

      2. Price is right. 😀

  11. This was worth the wait, John! I’ve always loved kites and these are some beauties. I love the bright colors against the crystal blue sky. Happy Sunday!

    1. Thank you, Jill. You as well.

  12. My favorite is the parrot! Great shots John!

    1. I like that one too. I have to say my favorite was the flamingo

  13. John, your blue skies are making me pea-green. What gorgeous kite-flying weather you’ve had! And yes, these views are much kinder than depicting humanity at its basest!!

  14. Your pics always warm heart, John.
    Thanks again.

  15. Very cool! I always loved flying kites.

    1. Mine always hit the ground for some reason. I think it is the Charlie Brown effect.

  16. Stunning pictures, John. Kites are magical things to see in full flight! The weather looks superb.

    1. Thank you Soooze. 🙂

  17. Wow! Those are some pretty awesome kites. Thanks for not giving us a view of spring breakers. I’ve seen enough to last a lifetime.

    1. Thanks, Michelle. Glad you like them. 🙂

  18. These are wonderful – and so colorful! Can’t decide which I like best, but the parrot is at the top.

    1. I like the flamingo myself. Thanks, Teri.

  19. Good choice sharing the kites. They were pretty with the lovely blue sky.

    1. Thank you, Deborah.
