Views of the Neighborhood

This week my producer is back and suggested a portfolio of some of the boats here in Port Aransas. I thought it a super idea and went out yesterday with my trusty iPhone and took a few. Hope you enjoy them.

The first boat I saw when I arrived at the marina was a pirate ship just getting underway to overtake that ferry.

Port Aransas Boats

This next shot is of a couple of bay boats. Notice the 225 horsepower motors

Theis next one is a Coast Guard cutter. Always nice to see these guys around.

I thought this next one would be of interest given how shallow the draft. This is a bay boat as well. The motor looks big enough too.

I saw this sailboat at the dock and wondered if the folks brought her here from St Petersburg Florida.

Here is a compact fishing boat. It could handle substantial seas.

In case anyone is interested in a house boat this old junker can be had for a song I’m sure.

Here is one a little more cleaned up.

This boat is all party

Here is a good-looking sailboat named Parrot Tales. A few drinks to be had on her I’ll bet.

Y’all always ask which one is mine.

Nope not this one.

I love No Wake signs and here is a good one.

No boat Port Aransas portfolio would be complete without a shrimper. Here is one heading to the Gulf.

I thought this boat was kind of interesting. It is a platform with a motor.

Here is an outboard twin fishing boat coming back to the marina from a Gulf trip.

This last photo is of some folks on paddle boards. Yes we have those as well.

  1. So good the “producer” is home! ♥ I loved the boat journey; it brought back a lot of California coastal scenes for me…..

  2. Another great set, John. Those bay boats with the mega-motors seem like they might be hard to handle. Why so much power? Is the pirate ship a tourist thing or a personal fantasy come to life? Most important, how was that train ride the producer was on? Well, I guess that’s my three questions. I don’t want to risk a visit from Tiny – “you know, you ask a lot of questions…”

    1. Ha ha ha. Let me take the train first. She said one night would have been plenty. The food was okay, but the cars were very outdated. All in all the scenery was the high point. The pirate ship is a tourist thing. The ship attacks another boat filled with tourists and board her. Lots of swashbuckling. The young ones love it. I don’t know why so much power. I think it has to do with the size of the brain behind the wheel. There seems to be an inverse relationship. 😀

      1. Hmmm, maybe I should reconsider that cross-country train trip. I’m not sure the scenery is all that good for me, until I get past the Midwest. I understand the horsepower equation now. Thanks!

  3. Another great set of photos, John. That Florida sailboat “Sea Breeze” looks identical to my son’s boat!

  4. Happy Sunday, John. I was expecting Molly to have a glorious train trip. So sorry it wasn’t everything it might have been. But I’m glad she came back in time to suggest this post. I really enjoyed looking at all the boats. I always love the pirate ship. As for those little boats… Too much motor for too little boat… Ya gotta wonder about those guys… Have a great new week. Mega hugs

  5. That CABO fishing boat is a doozy, John! Can you imagine sailing the high seas in that? And of course, the shrimp boats bring back many a good memory. Glad the wife is back — tell her this suggestion is a winner!!
