All week I have waited for this day. It is Stream of Consciousness Saturday time again. This weeks prompt is “all or nothing.” There are bonus points for beginning and ending the post with one or both. (It is obvious I’m going for the extra.) If you would like to participate go to Linda Hill’s blog and read how. Here is the link. https://lindaghill.com/2017/05/19/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-may-2017/
All or Nothing by John W. Howell © 2017
“So there I was on this game show.”
“What game show?”
“All or Nothing.”
“Never heard of it.”
“Oh, come on. All or Nothing. It is the number one game show on TV.”
“Okay, I’ll give it to you. What were you going to say.”
“Well, this I was on the show, and the host asks me what I want to bet on the next question.”
“You have to gamble?”
“No. You get so much money, and you can be all or nothing on each question.”
“Gee. Sounds dumb.”
“No, it’s fun. If you bet all and get the question right, you win the amount you bet.”
“What if you don’t get the question right?”
“You lose everything you bet.”
“Where does the nothing come in?”
‘You can bet nothing then if you win or lose you get nothing.’
“Nothing?”
“Yeah.”
“What’s the point?”
“Well let’s say the category is “parts of the brain,” you might want to bet nothing.”
“Why?”
“Do you know a lot about parts of the brain?”
“Yes, I do.”
“For heaven’s sake, it was an example. Name something you know absolutely nothing about.”
“This game show.”
“Swell what if the category was the game show.”
“Well, then I guess I would bet nothing.”
“Bingo. You’ve got it.”
“Would be no use in playing.”
“Well, there would be categories that you would know. Then you bet it all.”
“You seem like an expert.”
“I know my way around.”
“You were saying about the host?”
“Quite honestly I forgot.”
“How much did you win on this game show?”
“Nothing.”
Sounds like a fun show, another one where most people leave as empty-handed as they arrived.

Yes. The budget requires empty pockets.

Entertaining as always John, shame nothing came from all his playing…lol

Thanks, Michael. Couldn’t end it with “all” since that’s where I started. 😀

What a fun dialogue, John. I couldn’t help but think that this would not be a game show for me because I would want to bet something between the “all or nothing.” 🙂

I can imagine. Maybe there could be a hedge your bet feature. Perhaps playing Rock, Scissors, Paper with Tiny if you lose. 🙂

Nice job, John! This made me thing of NAME THAT TUNE. Do you remember the oldie? I was pretty good. Happy Saturday! 🙂

I remember it. The rush to ring the bell. Happy Saturday *sung to the tune of True Love Ways by Buddy Holly.

Sounds like a fun and quick game show. Hope the questions are multiple choice like that old Millionaire one.

I think that would be good. Plus I was thinking of a trap door. Get the question wrong and you bet all, whoop you are gone.

Must be a Japanese game show then. They have some really odd ones over there.

I know right? I watched a couple and had to wonder about those folks.

We can’t talk too much. Fear Factor was a thing here.

LOL… John, that left me scratching my head — in much the same way I did with most game shows. 😀 Although I always liked Jeopardy. I rarely got a question/answer correct, but I did like it.
It was a long, long week. Happy weekend. Mega hugs.

Well now the week is over. Take off that combat gear and have some R&R. Hugs and happy weekend. 🙂

Haha! Combat gear. That’s about what it feels like. 😀 Another of the execs is in court already… the senior exec was also (different suit) a couple of weeks ago. That’s what comes with cronyism… Would love to be a fly on the wall.

Court? What ever happened to the Guillotine?

You need to pitch that idea to a network, John – one of the poorer ones! 😉

Ha ha ha. It would be so bad they might accept it. 🙂

I don’t watch game shows, so you could have convinced me it was real! Great job at putting a big smile on my face. Thank you, John!

Giggle…
Same goes for me when talking politics with ruthless folks on either side.

Never do that. Or if you are going to do that change the subject to religion.

Obviously ‘Knowing your way around’ isn’t as much help as it would see.

Nice. Reminds me of family hour way back when I was a kid. Game shows were the big thing. Don’t watch any at the moment.
