Here will be the last pictorial from Scotland. I had a wonderful time filled with exceptional sights and sounds of a beautiful country.
This is a photo of The Cawdor Castle which is owned by the Dowager Countess Cawdor. She opens the castle to visitors in the summer and then takes up residence in the fall. It is said that Shakespeare stayed and wrote McBeth while here. In fact, Cowdor is mentioned in McBeth.
Here is a view of the rear with some gardens showing.
A shot of the formal gardens
This is the back of a carriage. On the door is the Dowager Countess Cawdor symbol and below the symbol for the Order of the Thistle which is the highest honor in Scotland.
Of course, no visit to Scotland would be complete without a distillery tour. This is the Benromach distillery. A very fine single malt whiskey.
This is a shot of Loch Ness. Did not see Nessy.
Here is a shot of the Caledonian locks. The Caledonian Canal connects the Scottish east coast at Inverness with the west coast at Corpach near Fort William in Scotland. It was opened in 1822 and runs 60 miles. There are 29 locks in the system. This was a shot of the locks near Inverness.
Here is a photo of the Highlands. You van see a waterfall and farmhouse.off in the distance.
One more shot of the farmhouse including the stream.
More waterfall.
A photo of Loch Loman (Taken from a speeding car.)
Our hotel in Glasgow. A real European flavor.
This was the four-floor stairway in the hotel in Glasgow. The chandelier made it quite unusual. Well, I hope you enjoyed the selection. If you want to come over, I have about 300 more. I could put you to sleep fast.
Clare and I passed Loch Lomond on our way to our honeymoon on the Inner Hebridean island of Colonsay – unforgettable trip.

Lovely photo journey, John. I hoped your family might solve the Loch Ness mystery – maybe your next trip? LOL

Ha ha ha. Thanks, Gwen. We actually got down to the water’s edge. I was quite surprised to see the water so clear. The lock is so deep that the water looks very dark from far away.

We’d be wide awake, having a look at the rest, John! 🙂
A pity you won’t show us. 😦 We were in Scotland appr. the same time as you and we loved it all – except for tourist trap Loch Ness. Cawdor castle and gardens look great, very nice photostory.
Warm greetings to you from ☀️☀️ Norway🇳🇴

Beautiful photos, John. I’m glad you had a great time. Welcome back. I hope you can settle in soon. I’m guessing you’re still making it up to Lucy and the gang. No Nessie? Dang.

Yes. When I tried to sneak in Lucy and Bailey came wiggling. I had to laugh out loud. It was so nice to be treated that way. 😀

While riding near Inverness on a bus, I spotted the sign for Cawdor Castle and recalled the line from MacBeth, “Hail to thee, thane of Cawdor!”
I thought, could it be?
And it was.

Welcome back John.
That is a wild shot of the chandelier. Spectacular. I could never tire of these pictures. Besides, I’m endlessly fascinated by castles. Forget Nessy, give me castles.
I take it you didn’t spend much time on the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. 😉
Wishing you a wonder-filled new week. Mega hugs.

So much beauty around the world, John. I love how still Loch Ness appears … not even a ripple. And those photos of the castles are amazing. I imagine they get a bit drafty in cold and rainy months though.

They were drafty while we were there. I can’t imagine in the winter.
