It hardly seems possible that the Fourth of July has come and gone, but come and gone it has. I hope you all had a rewarding and fun day. After all, the birthday of America should be cause for celebration. We did get our beach back and for some reason, this year was pretty tame compared to year’s past. Folks tended to stay longer, but I think there were more families than drunks. (Which is saying a lot)
The fireworks were at a minimum as well. I think the police were giving some extra attention to those who were lighting them. They are illegal here in Port Aransas but legal is only as good as enforcement.

I can see that. Personally, I’d put him on Sunday. Can be entertaining while you dread the finale. Stephen is Monday with a hangover and inescapable office meeting with the bosses.

The Monday-Friday connection made me laugh. Besides, Monday is my fiction challenge post.
I like the profoundness of the closing line.
We had a good forth. Although I worked in the morning and half the afternoon, our evening was sitting outside at a Pops orchestra concert.

Even though they are known for their recording of that music, the Cincinnati Pops usually doesn’t do the 1812 Overture on that day. Instead, focusing on music of America … and every year is different. Complete with a chorus and outside entertainers, the program was a wide array of Americana. This year guest performers from Texas (Quebe Sisters) and a soul singer (Ellis Hall) who does tributes to Ray Charles. A good concert indeed.

July 4th has always been my least favorite holiday. Not because it’s America’s birthday, but because of fireworks. I had two nephews a couple of years younger than I was and when we were kids, they would throw firecrackers at me and run away laughing. As a result, I hate fireworks. 🙂 I did, however, watch some really pretty ones from the safety of my balcony. 🙂 Happy Friday, John.

TGIF to you, John! Glad your July 4 was safe. We played like tourists this year and spent the evening on North Beach at Fajitaville to watch the fireworks. Son and Daughter were there so it was fun but we won’t do it again when we can walk to the end of the street and see them in the distance.

We had a good holiday too. We have a neighbor on the next block that gets into the fireworks and has a pretty good show. They’re illegal here too, but our neighborhood cops drove by, saw all was being done responsibly, saw no open containers so went on without stopping. Of course a lot of people left when they saw the police 🙂 but the show went on. I even managed to get a few good images of the fireworks.
