Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Prompt – “Season”

Stream of Consciousness

Season is the reason for this week’s Stream of Conscious Saturday session. Theis weeks prompt is “Season,” and Linda Hill said we could add a suffix to it as well. There are bonus points for the first, and last words of the post are “season” or a seasoning. If you would like to join in on the fun, please visit Linda Hill (midnight is best) and find out all about it. Here is the link. https://lindaghill.com/2017/10/20/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-oct-2117/

Oh yes, Linda said there would be extra bonus points if we had pictures. That is not going to happen.

“Deck the halls with Boston Charlie.”

“What are you doing?”

“Getting into the spirit of the season.”

“what season are you talking about?”

“The holiday season. You know the one no one can actually say anymore.”

“Are you nuts?”

“Why?”

“It is not even Halloween, and you are singing about the holidays.”

“I have to ask. What’s wrong with that?”

“You sound like a lunatic. There is Halloween, and Thanksgiving before the holidays. Why aren’t you singing about Halloween?”

“I don’t know any Halloween carols.”

“Your Boston Charlie isn’t exactly a carol either.”

“Oh, I get it. Okay, let’s try this.

Trick or treat for Halloween,

Load my bag with candy.

If you cheat me, I’ll get mean,

And play a trick that’s dandy.”

“Stop.”

“What’s the problem?”

“You are killing me. Go back to the holiday stuff.”

“I thought it was quite good.”

“I think songs don’t  cut it during the Halloween season.”

“Oh, I don’t know it could be a new thing.”

“Now you did it.”

‘What.”

“You added to the post. I had it finished and bonus points in the bag when I said ‘Halloween season.”‘

“You doing that prompt thing again?”

“Yes of course. Haven’t you noticed, it’s the only time I talk to you.”

“Now that you mention it, I do notice.”

“So what do you think?”

“Makes me think you are right.”

“Right? How?”

“We should end the post with the word season.”

I could go for some Halloween carols:)

    1. I think you should make some up. “It came upon a midnight clear, that undead thing so gross.” Or something like that. 😀

I will see if I can come up with anything:)

What a fun dialogue. Our town is already decked out for Christmas. Lights are up, decorations on the trees, in another week, all live entertainment shifts to their Christmas shows. Yep, it’s definitely the season in Branson. I’m not sure what happened to Halloween. 😀

    1. It’s there under that stack of gift bills somewhere. Thanks, Gwen.

        😀

  3. Guess the closest thing to a Halloween carol would be Monster Mash. Still beats poor Thanksgiving, which has nothing.

    1. Turkey Trot could be a thing. (watch that mess there)

      1. All I’m thinking of now is a cooked turkey suddenly getting up and dancing.

      2. Not a pretty picture,

      3. All good if you give it a bow tie.

  4. Halloween carols, that’s a great idea!

    1. Deck the halls with black and orange, fa la la la la la la la. 😀

      1. I can’t stop laughing! 😂

  5. What a great job, John! The stores in our area are already full of Christmas trees. I believe on Halloween, one local radio station begins to play Christmas music until January 1st. Happy Saturday!

    1. We have the same kind of radio station here. Happy Saturday to you, Jill * Sung to the tune of “I Get Around,” by The Beach Boys

  6. Nicely done, and a nice recovery, John. Boston Charlie had a nice ring to it, but I’ll stick with Christmas. And, Home Depot is selling artificial trees already, next to the Halloween decorations.

    1. Too soon. Much too soon. Thanks, Dan

  7. Ha ha! Boston Charlie cracked me up and then a Halloween carol. Great one, John. 🙂

  8. Halloween is the beginning of the Most Wonderful Time of the Year for me. I wouldn’t mind more carols for it. Before you wrote yours I only knew “Trick or Treat smell my feet…” Stop me if you’ve heard it.
…”give me something good to eat”!

    Nicely done John!

    1. Thank you, Deborah. We’ll add that one to the Halloween carol song book. 🙂

  9. Priceless, John! 🙂

    1. Thank you, Natalie.

  10. Love your Halloween ditty, Mr. John. Were you referring to the Christmas season when you said “the holidays?” Great post, John!

    1. Thanks , John. The answer is yes.

  11. Hmmm… They don’t bother to say “Trick or treat?” anymore, so I doubt we could get them to sing Halloween carols. Fun SoC, John. Hugs!

    1. We haven’t had a trick or treater for five years. I didn’t know they don’t say trick or treat anymore. Too bad. Thanks, Teagan

  12. My dad used to sing that “Deck Us All With Boston Charlie” song. Got everyone else singing it, too.

    1. Thanks for the link, John

  13. What a fun dialogue, John! And as much as I love the holidays, let’s get through Halloween first please. 🙂 🎃🎄

    1. I agree. Thanks, Lauren.

  14. Simply the best! As always. You keep topping yourself each week 🙂

    1. Thank you, J. You are so kind. I love this comment.

  15. Smirk. My son came home the other day stoked that he was able to convince his history teacher to play Christmas music while they wrote. Umm, can we have Halloween first? But why I say to him…he says,” Cause it’s Christmas music and it’s awesome.” Sigh

    1. Well, that is sweet.

  16. I wouldn’t mind Halloween carols – sounds like a great idea.
