Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Prompt “Resolution.”

Stream of Consciousness

It is Stream of Consciousness Saturday and this week’s prompt is “resolution.” Linda Hill says we can use the word any way we want. (My chest swells with the idea of such freedom.) If you would like to join this happy band of delusional souls go to Linda’s blog and see how easy it is to slip from reality. Here is the link.

Resolution by John W. Howell © 2017

“You say you want a resolution. Well, you know. We all want to change the world. You tell me that it’s evolution…”

“Hold it.”

“What are you doing?”

“Singing about a resolution.”

“Resolution? You gotta be kidding me.”

“No. I’m not. What’s the problem? Great song by the Beatles.”

“Why is it I can count on you to somehow get everything in life confused?”

“What are you talking about?”

“The song. It is about revolution, not resolution.”

“Wait. What? You sure?”

“OMG. Yes, I’m sure. Here listen to my phone.”

“I’ll be darned.”

“I could only hope.”

“Why do these guys want a revolution?”

“It was a song written during turbulent times.”

“Don’t you think a resolution would do the trick?”

“A resolution by whom?”

“Well, I was thinking of Congress. You know the old ‘we are resolved’ kind of thing.”

“And who would pay attention?”

“Hmm. Good point. Okay so how do we start a revolution?”

“I think if you want to start a revolution all you have to do is make a resolution to stand on the corner and sing.”

“That was cold.”

  1. […] do Cheryl. And, since it looks like I’m paying, bring him a glass of John Howell’s […]

  2. “May your hangover be as short as your New Year’s resolutions!”

    1. Ha ha ha. Thanks, GP.

  3. With all the year end calls I’m getting, I’d shift to the “you say you want a contribution…” verse. We’re doing all we can, right John?

Nicely done, as always. Enjoy the weekend.

    1. Ha ha ha. Excellent, Dan.Thanks. 😀

  4. Nice one, John! Speaking of cold…it’s freezing here in Charlotte! Happy Saturday!

    1. Happy Saturday to you *sung to the tune of Night Moves by Bob Seger.

  5. Stand in the corner and sing— now that would start a revolution. Excellent one this week, John. Of course I’m partial to the Beatles. 🙂

    1. I like them as well. Thanks, Jennie.

      1. You’re welcome, John.

  6. Resolutions never seem to work anyway. Revolutions at least get movies a few years later.

    1. Ha ha ha. Not to mention a feature on the History channel. Thanks, Charles

      1. Haven’t checked that channel out in years. Seems they do more fiction shows these days.

How perfect, ending the year with a Beatles song and a smile of course. This is a fun one, John. Happy New Year. 😀

    1. Thank you, Gwen. Revolution/Resolution all part of the same process. Happy New Year to you.

  8. Great play on words, John. And, of course, done with your Howell brand of humor. I love it! Happy New Year to you!!

    1. Thank you, Jan. Happy New Year to you as well.

  9. LOL! That was fun, John.
No standing on the corners in my part of the world today. It’s snowing….and snowing….and will be going on until about 5 o’clock. A good day to stay indoors and write, I think. Happy New Year!

    1. I feel for you, Mae. Stay warm.:-D

    1. Thanks Bill Ray. 😀

  10. If I stood on the corner with you and sang, we would have the beginning of an awesome revolution. 😮

    1. Ha ha ha. Or the start of a 30 day sentence (speaking for my voice)

      1. I was thinking of The Howling Dog Revolution.

      2. Ha ha ha. I can do that for sure.

  11. I never object to getting the Beatles stuck in my head, John. Thanks for another fun SoC. Happy weekend hugs!

    1. Thank you, Teagan.

  12. Stellar!!! I have been humming that Beales tune since I saw the prompt last night. I wish I was clever enough to come up with something like this! Again, just stellar!!

    1. Thank You, J. Happy New Year to you.

  13. Ah, ha, ha! You always make me laugh out loud. I really enjoyed this, John. Funny!

    1. Laughter is good for you.

      1. It certainly is. Thank you. 😀

  14. Another wonderful bit of dialog.

    1. Thanks, Craig. Happy New Year.
