Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Prompt “Why/Y”

Stream of Consciousness

Why lookie there. The Sears Calendar on the barn wall tells me it is Stream of Consciousness Saturday again. Of course, the year is not 1901, but it is still Saturday. This week’s prompt is “Why/Y.” Yeah I know looks goofy but let me explain. Linda hill says we should use a word that begins with Y as a theme for our post today. Also, the extra point potential lies in beginning and ending the post with the word, “why.” So far so good I would say. If you would like to challenge your brain to a chicken run, drop by Linda’s post and find out how. Why/Y by John W. Howell © 2018

“Why did you by a used Yago?”

“Why not?”

“I love it when you answer a question with a question.”

“It is the only way to avoid an answer.”

“So tell me. What prompted you to buy that thing?”

“Have you ever heard the concept of collector’s item.”

“Of course I have. I usually think of a collector’s item as a piece of art or antique.”

“Yeah, well that’s where most people make a mistake. Ever hear of an AC Cobra?”

“Yes, it was a roadster built by Carroll Shelby in the sixties.”

“Very good. You know how much one in pristine condition sells for today?”

“Oh, I would guess around three hundred thousand.”

“Try a million five.”

“You have got to be kidding.”

“Nope. So now you have the answer to your Yago question.”

“Did you say pristine?”

“On the Cobra? Yeah.”

“What about that missing tire and hood on your Yago?”

“Cosmetic. All fixable.”

“Engine?”

“Can be repaired.”

“Windshield.”

“New one is three hundred bucks.”

“I only have two questions.”

“What are those.”

“Yugo? why?”

“WHY” – the one word children learn to torment their parents with by asking it about EVERYTHING!!!

Sounds like a lemon, which turns out to really be a bottle of lemon-scented bathroom cleaner.

Nicely done, John. Someday that;s gonna be worth something. Maybe a few hundred bucks to the guy that agrees to haul it away, but something.

Couldn’t help but smile, because I sometimes watch a few minutes of a car restoration show with hubby. Stunning what folks will do to salvage a car; it’s even more incredible what craftsmen can do to create something beautiful. Fun dialogue, John. Enjoy your weekend – hopefully all sunshine. 🙂

I think it is supposed to be sunny. Thanks Gwen. I used to enjoy Pimp my Ride but finally turned to writing instead. 😀

Well done, John. Now, if we only had a crystal ball to see if the investment pays off. Looks doubtful. 🙂

    John,

I guess a Yago by any other name is not a Yugo, huh?

Clever hilarity . . as per.

I hate to admit I was lost on this one because I don’t know what a Yago is. 🙂 Well-done, John.

Man, I could have it towing one of those cement boats you write about. Actually, a Pacer might make a better aquarium.

Yugo is a Yugoslavian car. Yago is a character in The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas,

You are so right.I just looked it up. Yago is the title of a Mexican TV show based on The Count of Monte Christo. I should have checked. Older brains need checks and balances. Thanks for the information. 🙂

🙂 I was going to look it up, because I’ve forgotten most the characters in the book but the main ones!
It’s been ages since I read it.
