Views of the Neighborhood – The Harbor

It’s such a nice day, I thought a walk around the Marina might be relaxing. Sorry about the lateness of this post. I messed up the scheduling. Hope you enjoy.

Roberts Point park

The marina is connected to the park. This sign is a Hurricane Harvey survivor.

Lots of nice boats.

Two shrimp trawlers off in the distance.

The PollyAnna and a lot of new slips that are open.

Two nice boats.

I have to alert Deborah that the pole is bent and the sign is straight.

This is named the Jetty Boat and runs people to St Joe’s Island. There is nothing on St Joes except shells.

A sightseeing boat.

Two beautiful fishing boats.

I came home with this picture and told the Producer that I had found our boat. She was not impressed.

More fishing boats across the channel.

Some folks doing some fishing off the harbor jetty. Those are granite rocks.

Always nice to have the Army Corps of Engineers around.

My kind of boat. 35-foot Bertram

Some men working on installing the new docks.

Day fishing boat. Named La Pesca (Why not?).

No fish flag flying.

  1. Oh, gosh. So many memories. I tied up in that harbor after my first offshore sail, and spent many a happy weekend there. Of course, there were the Harvest Moon parties, too. But the best detail in your photos for me? Seeing the PollyAnna again.

    1. No. It is a pride thing though. Lots of fun to see the banner run up after a catch. The Marlin catches are usually released so all your really have is the pennent.

  2. Good morning, John,
a walk around the harbour is our favourite evening pastime when we are in Port A. It has become quite a routine to drive there after (a nice) supper and then walk around. We both love to look at the boats there, and we always hope to see some dolphins.
The harbour jetty, btw, is where Mary “bathed her worms”. You remember I mentioned that lately.
    Have a wonderful Sunday,
    Pit

      1. We rarely walk out on the big jetty. I don’t know why. Your post and Dina’s pictures from the Norfolk coast reminded me that we really need to drive down to Port A for a few days soon.

        1. My goodness. I am having knee replacement surgery in San Antonio the week before you arrive. I don’t think I’m going to be in any shape to welcome you. It is too bad but maybe the next time. 🙂

        2. Knee replacement surgery?! Hope all will be well. And don’t worry about not being able to welcome us. Take care of yourself first and foremost. There will be another time certainly.

  3. Like myself, the ‘producer’ is more frugal. Boy, you sure couldn’t ask for a more beautiful day. Thanks for sharing your fantastic photos, John. I’ve always enjoyed strolling through a marina and reading all of the names. Happy Sunday!

  4. Great collection of photos, John. You are so blessed living in this beautiful place. I don’t think you really want a boat – it takes up a ton of time even if money is not an issue. Where would you find time to blog and write books?

  5. These photos make me long to be on the Mississippi Gulf Coast again, if just to visit a while! Thanks, John, for stirring the memories. What a beautiful place to live!

  6. John,

The producer was right to put the kibosh on your . . umm, dream boat. Not that there is anything wrong with your ‘dream boat’ . . because hey, to each his own. 😉

    Lovely pics as per.

  7. LOL! The sign is straight! Thanks for the alert. 😜 What a beautiful day, and really nice ships. I love the color of the water. I’m pretty sure we passed through your area while on a cruise down to Cozumel, Honduras, and Belize. We had dolphins escort us out of our port that trip.

  8. Great harbor shots, John. I can’t resist walking down to the harbor whenever we are traveling along the coast. I just love watching the boats. There was one time I refrained but my hubby didn’t. The fishing boats were unloading the days catch and about a zillion seagulls swooped in. Yep, hubby’s camera and hat were covered in their droppings. Ya can’t take pics when the lens is covered in sh–.
