Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

Yes, It is Friday. Yes, I’m a bulldog.

It is Friday and time to start preparing for the weekend. This is the last Friday before Thanksgiving. It is hard to believe the holidays are on us already. I’m not sure if we are ready or not. I guess there really is no choice since the day comes around and ready or not it will be Thanksgiving.

We have had another pretty challenging week with Bailey. She has had some difficulty with nausea. We have some new medicine, and so far it looks like it is working. Bailey, bless her heart, does not like to take medication. We have to grind pills and then get some media that she will accept. She used to take her medicine in baby food. Now she is on to us. The only way she will take it is in a suspension that I give her by syringe. No needle, just the syringe into the mouth behind the molars. Even as I write she has decided to keep a clamped jar. Well probably TMI, but all in all, Bailey is hold ing her own.

Thanks to everyone who has offered such kind words of support. Those words do help.

Today’s JohnKu talks about what words can do. I hope you have a lovely weekend.

When all seems dark and hopeless . . .

Kind thoughts work wonders.

Doesn’t Twiggy look tough? She was sitting there demanding that I go to the couch and sit with her.(Of course I did.)

Great to hear that the new meds are helping. Good luck getting her to stay on them. Is it really that close to Thanksgiving?

Beautiful, John. Kindness softens life’s blows and keeps us going, doesn’t it? I love the photo of Twiggy. Do you ever show your pups the photos you take of them? I think they might enjoy the disclosure. Thinking of Bailey and your family during this hard time … ♥

The pups do not care about their photos. They love to watch their videos. Twiggy especially likes the video of her demanding something. Thank you for the kind words.

She is comfortable and becoming more normalized. The prognosis is still the same, but she is enjoying her life a little more each day. Thanks, Craig.

Our kitty Elodea (RIP) had jaws of steel. We dreaded giving her meds in any form. The thing is, as she’d get better, it would get harder to medicate her because she was stronger. I imagine your struggles with Bailey are the same, and you probably try to reason with her too. At least the syringe method seems to be working. I hope and pray she continues to improve. ❤️

Another apt Johnku. Hope Bailey comes around to those meds. On the subject of dogs, my dog puked half his bodyweight this morning. I suspect he’s been gorging on festering chunks of deer the annual cullers have left lying about in the woods.

Sometimes it’s hard being a pet paw-rent. Dallas refuses to chew the chewable meds, and he’s onto me crushing them on his food. Consequently, I end up poking them down his throat, which *both* of us hate. Tell Bailey to hang in there and trust you’re doing the best possible for her.

Kindness and hope are powerful. We’ve gotten to know Bailey and will continue to hold a good thought. Maddie gets a syringe of water, a pill crammed in followed by more water. So far, it works.

That JohnKu is so true. Sorry you had a rough week, but glad it went in a better direction. Giving meds to a pet that doesn’t want it is a huge challenge. And , no I can’t believe it Thanksgiving next week either. Have a peaceful weekend.
