Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

Twiggy and Lucy

“Whew, you have me winded.”
“Aw Lucy. It’s Friday. Time to blow off steam.”
“Let me catch my breath before I try the steam thing.”

Another Friday has rolled around, and it has been hectic for the last two weeks. The producer and I have sold our house here at the beach and bought another in Austin Texas. Yes, I know. The question comes up, “Why on Earth would you do that?”

It is a good thing that there are excellent reasons for doing so.

  1. Our youngest daughter lives in Austin, and we would like to see her more.
  2. The health care facilities are more accessible for a septuagenarian. (Me. The Producer is still a kid.)
  3. We love Austin. (It has an element of weird more like us )
  4. We think the last 10 years at the beach are enough and want some city life for a while. (theater, opera, symphony, and exercise facilities)

On Sunday we will be leaving for our new home. I intend to post one last View of the neighborhood which will be where we have lived.

Today’s JohnKu talks about change. I hope you have a great weekend. Oh yes. I do have a personal hot spot but will not have internet at the new house until March 5th. Please bear with me if anything should go wrong and my posts don’t appear.

Some do not like change,

Others go out of their way. . .

To do it daily.

How wonderful to be near your daughter and the conveniences of city life! Moving at any age is demanding but this one promises many rewards. All the best to you and the producer as you begin this important next segment of your lives. May happiness and joy abound! 🙂

  8. John,

It’s a good move for the two of you. The other two might miss those walks on the beach, but I’ve a feeling they will occupy themselves just fine with all the people watching they’re gonna get to do.

All the best to you, and safe travels.

  10. Congratulations! What a wonderful adventure you and your family are about to experience – yes, change is ‘interesting’ in all sorts of ways and that is what makes it exciting. I can to wait to read all of the Johnkus that your experiences will inspire! Oh – and the puppies…..your little ones are going to enjoy meeting new puppies and people, new places to walk and sniff ——–oh the smells……..that in itself it the most awesome thing in the world! Smelling Austin! (I sense many volumes of words at this very moment!!!!!!)

I’m sure the four-legged kids will enjoy the new surroundings even if all a y’all might miss the beach.
Cheers to new changes and adventures!

    1. Yeah we love the beach but the tourests are a real pain. We won’t miss their disregard for the environment.

      Liked by 1 person

      1. That is just a damn shame. Nothing worse than disrespecting your environment. Especially when you are visiting! Would they like us to dump our trash in their homes? So sad.

    1. We tend to embrace change. This is our longest stay anywhere so it is time. There is a big yard potential. We bought a new hpouse so we hae to put in a yard. Our first objective is to get it fenced.

  24. You’re moving to one of my favorite cities in the world. I once spent lots of time in Austin dealing with state educational folks… I will think of you on the ‘River Walk’ – I stayed at the hotel on the northside of the bridge (if my directional antenna is correct). Good luck and the best to the family. ♥

  26. The Island is a bit isolated in some ways so I can see where Austin would appeal to you and the Producer. As I age I don’t want to have to drive very far to reach civilization and medical facilities. Austin is a great place with so much to offer even if the traffic is a bit crazy. There are plenty of parks for the girls to find new adventures. Austin – a blue dot in a red state! Enjoy! May the move go well for you, Producer and the girls. Cheers!

  27. Congratulations on your new home. Austin is a wonderful city full of weird and music. You’ve got the best reasons for moving there, but you forgot one – no more hurricanes. 😂😂 I love Austin, but I haven’t been there in a while, so I look forward to your posts from there.

  28. Look forward to seeing views of your new neighbourhood. City life has a lot to offer. When we were down in Cornwall last month I was thinking it is so beautiful, how come we didn’t move here ( couldn’t afford it ) then I remember Bournemouth has a symphony orchestra, two universities, a theatre, plenty of buses – and the sea!
