Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

“Hey, Twiggy, look t that.”
“What is it?”
“A baby deer asleep by our artichoke agave.”
“Can we play with it?”
“Its mother wouldn’t like that for sure. We can look though.”
“And bark.”

Friday is here again, and for all those who were called into work, it will be a short eight hours until you can go back to your quarantine headquarters. For the rest of us, it is Friday. By the way, I used to have trouble spelling ‘quarantine’ before the COVID-19 situation. For one reason or another, it seems to have taken care of itself. The word pops out of my head, correctly spelled. I guess that is a good thing.

Still sending out queries. Again not hearing back, so the status is quo.

We are getting more openings in Texas, and with the opportunities come more cases of the virus. I guess the decision to open has to be made to allow the economy to function. We cannot go on forever with a closed economy. I just wish I didn’t see clusters of people at beaches, in parks, and on boats. I’m still laying low since a case of the virus would do me in for sure.

Today’s John Ku was inspired by a birthday this last week and is all about wishing you well. I hope you have a super weekend.

A Wish by John W. Howell © 2020

When it comes to wishes,

While blowing out the candles . . .

The best is for peace.

Wonderful JohnKu! I love your wish…that’s mine too. I’m still hunkered down…not sure when my mother and I will ever be able to go shopping again. This week I’ve been feeling quite angry at this virus. Your photo of the baby deer was a bright spot though. Enjoy your weekend!

Anger is a good emotion. Too bad we can’t get a virus and punch it. The baby deer does take some of the anger away for sure. It is so innocent and playful. It makes my heart lighter. Thanks, Jill. I also wish you and your mother can go shopping soon.

Happy Friday, John. Like you, I understand the need to reopen, but DO wish some folks would take a more sensible approach. Suffice it to say, you won’t catch me at any beach bashes or crowded bars. That little fawn is precious…

When we’re walking the dogs, Eos pulls me across the road if she sees anyone (especially a child) in our path, so that’s social distancing sorted. There is some talk of looking at the WHO recommendation of 1 metre distance instead of two – that would suit me as I always think any nearer is close to invading personal space anyway.
Meanwhile, I’m doing battle with WordPress’ new block editor. I Expect I’ll get used to it in time.
Have a good weekend, stay well, stay safe and grab a free book from my collection if the mood takes you.

Thank you, Keith. I’m not touching the block editor with a one metre pole. I tried it and there are certain aspects I like but others I can’t stand. Editing is a pain once the blocks are set. Also I’m used to being able to insert ten or so photos all at once and then comment on them individually. The block editor either makes you do a gallery or go through the painful process of one at a time. I’m staying with classic for as long as I can. I think the only books of yours I haven’t read is Kena’s Story. I like how you renamed them. I’ll go get it. Maybe I should download them all so I can leave a ‘verified purchase’ review. That sounds like a good idea. Have a great wekend.

I’m always surprised by the number of deer that roam around Austin and San Antonio. They’re around here, too, but I’ve never seen a fawn: only groups high-tailing it from one spot to another. Finding a fawn your lawn would rank pretty high on my list of “Oh, my”s!

I’m assuming that baby Bambi was outside your fence?? How cool is that! I’ve never even seen a baby deer, except on TV, so you’re lucky to have the chance. I imagine the publishers have quite a backlog of books/manuscripts to get to once they open up shop. I am hoping that’s why you haven’t heard anything.

Keep doing what makes you comfortable. I’m seeing fewer people in masks and gloves here when I shop weekly at the grocery store, but we’ve got 5 active cases, 25 recovered, and knock on wood no deaths in my county. I’m still wearing a mask and gloves to the grocery store though.
