Views of the Neighborhood – Twelve Days Of Christmas in Lights

Thanks for joining the tour of the Twelve Days of Christmas in lights. The City of Lakeway has installed these lights in different locations around the city. They then published a list of clues as to where the lights are located. Since the Producer and I have already scouted out the locations, we will just drive to them. Since this is a night tour, we will be serving a charcuterie of assorted meats and cheeses accompanied by freshly baked sourdough bread and hot spiced (and spiked) cider. Of course, there is the top-shelf bar along with a 1972 Cherryblock Cabernet and Kistler 2017 VineHill Vineyard Chardonnay. For a sweet note, we have spice cake topped with a creme cheese frosting drizzled with caramel. We also have Jimmy Buffet with his version of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

Also, I was challenged by Frank and Liz to show a picture of The Producer and me in our ninja outfits. So there it is. Let’s now get on the bus and get rolling.

The first set of lights is A Partridge in a Peartree.

Next is Two Turtle Doves

Three French Hens.

Four Calling Birds

Five GGGGGolden RRRRRRings.

Six Geese a Laying

Seven Swans a Swimming

Eight Maids a Milking

Nine Ladies Dancing

Ten Lords A Leaping

Eleven Pipers Piping

Twelve Drummers Drumming

So that’s the tour. Stay on the bus, have more food, and listen to Jimmy’s version.

  1. You both look great in your ninja outfits (lol). Once again I have to give your community a hat’s off cheer for their creativity!! It’s things like this that join a community together.
    Thanks for the ride, John.

      1. I live right on the Square in Frisco, and from Thanksgiving to after New Years we’re treated to an impressive light show set to music each night. The music gets old (especially if you’re trying to work) but the lights are amazing!

  2. What a cool tour! Great idea from the City of Lakeway! I’d love to see something like that! (Did you sing the lyrics for each one out the car window?) 😀

Thanks for another fun bus trip and the Jolly Santa Line! Enjoyed it! 🙂 One small question, though. What the heck is a charcuterie? (We don’t know ’bout such as them ’round these parts.)

      1. Good to know. Around here, I think we just call that “a board with cheeses and salami.” 😀 But I’m always happy to learn a new word. (Look for it in my next book! 😀 😀 😀 )

  3. Great tour, John — thanks for letting me go along. Our park has a setup of the Twelve Days of Christmas all lit up, too, but I didn’t have to piece together clues to find them. Yours probably took longer, but the mental payoff was better, ha!

      1. I’m amazed with their vigorous creative spirit! What a poetic office you have there! 😁😁😁 I wonder if they plan to send you, citizens, St. Valentine’s cards to establish better relationship…

  4. Very pretty, John. The drive by lights have been a big thing this year. Up here most every home seemed to be decorated right after Thanksgiving. Strings of lights are sold out in many places.

The lights are lovely. Thanks for the tour. I’m looking forward to the next one.
