“Even if one is over there, we aren’t going to get it.”

“Since there is no squirrel to catch, how about a game of tag?”
“Well, are you sure there is nothing over there?”
“I’m telling you there’s nothing.”
“Okay, then. You run, and I’ll catch you.”
“Hey, Twiggy, you ran right by me.”
“I’m thinking of the dog Olympics.”
“You sure you can catch me?”
“The Puma slams on the breaks and sees the water buffalo in a weakened condition.”
“What weakened condition? You overgrown house cat.”
“The Puma comes around for the killing blow.”
“Hey, Puma. What happened to the killing blow.”
“The Puma thinks it is time to stretch out in the sun. She carefully makes her bed.”
“Brother.”

The girls are in fine fettle this morning! I was happy to see a reappearance of the Puma and the water buffalo. I would say that the water buffalo won by default.

In order not to aleart Twiggy to the squirrel which causes many widows and door scratching we named the squirrel “flounder.” That was a signal to divert Twiggy’s attention away from the doors and windows. She finally caught on. We now just open the door and the squirrel takes a leap to the tree from the fence. He then sits and scolds or taunts Twiggy. Good time had by all. 😁

“the Flounder.” Haha. We used to spell “C A T” (as in, don’t let the dog know that the C A T is right outside the window.” Our dog figured out how to spell way before we knew that he knew. I wonder if your two cuties would know “F L O U N D E R”?? 🙂

Twiggy has caught on to the name for sure. Spelling is another story. She does know o-u-t, c-a-r, t-r-e-a-t, b-a-t-h and v-e-t. If she spots the squirrel we just let her out. The squirrel likes the action too. Thanks, Pamela.

Yes. We have given up. If Twiggy spots the squirrel (and by the way he sits on the fence until that happens) we just let her out. The squirrel jumps to a tree and then taunts Twiggy. They both enjoy it. Thanks, Mae.

As always, the pups have brought a much-needed smile today. For the past month or so, we have a pair of squirrels that spend much of the day on our back patio … possibly because I feed them peanuts, ‘Critter Crunch’, walnuts, and other delectables. If I sleep a bit later in the morning, or for some reason am a bit late feeding, they are sitting in the window ledge waiting and looking at me like, “You’re late, woman!” They bring me so much joy that I don’t even mind them leaving their peanut shells all over my patio!

I can relate to your furry children. I have three dogs, a lab border collie mix, a chihuahua and a chihuahua dachshund mix. At night , before we go to bed, they line up barking at the back door as if their going out to hunt some creature in the dark. We open the door and they run out onto the patio and stop right in the middle of it and look back at the house as if they forgot why they wanted to go out. They are pretty much ‘lay around on the couch and snore’ dogs.
