Views of the Neighborhood – Story Book Walk for Valentine’s Day

Every year the Lakeway Department of Parks and Recreation conducts a storybook walk. This year it was in honor of Valentine’s Day. Here’s our invitation.

Also, in honor of Valentine’s Day, we have a unique Valentine’s dinner catered by Roosevelt’s in Port Aransas. Our entertainment is Chris Botti and Sting.

Here is the menu.

So get on the bus.

Today’s book walk is with Todd Parr’s The I Love You Book. Since the book is so long, I will be showing only a few pages. After dinner, you can walk around and view the rest.

I love you when you are silly.

I love you when you hide my keys.

I love you when you are stinky.

I love you when you are squeaky clean.

I love you when we stroll.

I love you when you are shy.

I love you when you share.

But most of all.

Just the way you are.

I hope you enjoyed the book walk and wish you a great week. Have some food and listen to Chris Botti and Sting.

  1. So beautiful, John. Lakeway celebrates the seasons and holidays with all ages in mind. It’s very heartwarming! I hope you and Molly have a wonderful Valentine’s Day with your pups. 💕

  2. Wow! Thats always wonderful on your weekends, John! The menu is equisite too. 😉 Only the temperatures where you live – only 4 degrees Celsius in Port Aransas today – are a little low by Texas standards. Right? Dont put Lucy and Twiggy out of the house, or your will get them back like frozen tuna. Lol Best wishes, Michael

  3. I usually don’t eat red meat but will make an exception just for the halibut. One Beef Wellington, please.

This is a terrific post. The story book is wonderful. Isn’t Love special? I love your posts. Have a great week, John.

  4. I lived in Uvalde and McAllen for a couple of years and it never got quite that cold ‘95-‘97. Brrr the thought even makes me shiver here at north of 43. The tour and the menu are delightful. Enjoy!

  5. What a lovely walk, that was!
I was thinking… boy, Chris Botti is getting rather up close and personal with Trudi (also thinking that’s awfully loud at times so close)… I loved Sting’s response. Great video and so much fun.

  6. Oooo…. another Story Walk! I love the Todd Parr books. Thanks to you, John, I learned about this last year and started the ball rolling at school. When spring arrives, we will again be doing Story Walks. Brown Bear, Brown Bear is in my basement, although now I really want to do a Todd Parr book. Thanks, John.

  7. I’m always amazed by the wonderful things/events/displays your Parks & Recreation folks create for everyone’s enjoyment. I wish we had something comparable around here, but since we don’t, I try not to miss out on your Sunday posts. This is such a great idea! Thanks for sharing, John! 😊

  8. What a great walk. That book is sweet.
As usual, the menu is odd, at best. The roasted beets sound yummy!
I’m 2 days late, so Happy Valentines. ❤ I'm always at my best when I'm late! It's a fashion.
