“Okay, Trevor. This is a new one. Why are you in the clothes dryer?”
“Well, Eos, if it is any of your business, I’m hiding out.”
“Hiding out from what? Or should I say who?”
“Yeah, it’s a who and a what.”
“Care to explain?”
“The who is mama.”
“Okay, so why do you have to hide from mama?”
“Aren’t you curious about the what?”
“I suppose.”
“The what is the reason for hiding from the who.”
“Enough of the riddles. Tell me what has you in hiding.”
“Bath.”
“Bath?”
“Mama wants to give me a bath.”
“Oh my goodness. This is serious. When was the last time?”
“It took me all this time to forget it, so don’t make me go back to remember.”
“Fine. Forget I asked.”
“Easy to say.”
“For heaven’s sake. You know hiding in the dryer is a short-term proposition, don’t you?”
“I only need one break.”
“Well being here when mama comes to stuff these clothes into the dryer isn’t the answer.”
“I know.”
“So why are you still here?”
“I think I hear mama coming.”
“You didn’t answer me.”
“Oh Eos there you are. Time for your bath.”
“Any more questions?”
“Just one. How do you sleep at night?”

So that’s why he jumped in there. And there was I, thinking it was for the warmth (he used regularly to settle down on the pile of clothes retrieved from the tumble-drier, especially in colder weather). Nice story, John. Thank you.

Trevor was Keith’s Jack Russel Terrier who passed away this year. Eos is his other rescue and Trevor’s foil.

Aw, very sweet! When Monkey was a wee pup, he loved to hop in the laundry basket full of clothes. He never said why; now I know — he was preventing a bath. Or at least, putting it off for a spell!

This is a good reminder if we get pets down the road to make sure they aren’t in the washer or dryer. There are other ways to get them to come clean (great title) without the use of major appliances. Cute picture and conversation, John.
