All aboard.

Here is the map of the tour and a list of the stops.

After the tour, we each get a hardcover book about Lakeway.

That bus makes ours look a little shabby. Not as lovely inside, I’ll bet.

There are the registration tents. Yes, we had to have reservations.

We can also meet the mayor, who is here somewhere, and Gwen Wunneberger, who as a girl, lived in the cabin in the background.

Gotta have a sweet and cup of coffee but don’t spoil your brunch.

Always terrific to be welcomed.

The old Liebelt cabin was moved to this spot.

Kay Andrews, dressed in a period costume, gives us a tour of the cabin.

A horse-drawn hay cutter sits in the cabin yard.

Behind the cabin sits a replica of August Liebelt’s headstone in honor of him.

It is time to get on the other bus for the tour. If you really want to see what the tour is like. you can visit a previous post on the subject HERE

I hope you enjoyed the tour. Now, let’s sit back and enjoy the food and entertainment. I hope you have a terrific week.

  1. I’m glad to see the cabin made the trip safe and sound and I love the culture being saved in your area.
I’m afraid I filled up on donuts, despite my A1C number being too high last check-up. (When I go, I want a smile on my face!!)

  3. What a spread, John. The food sounds amazing. I’ll pass on the doughnut so I have more room for this. Lovely tour and I love that they have preserved the past this way.
    Excellent tune to accompany…

  4. Nice that your area is keeping history alive, John. I find it fascinating to contemplate how determined our forebears were, living in such tiny cabins and braving the elements … without benefit of indoor plumbing and HVAC!

  5. Thanks, John. It was a great ride on The Magic Bus. 🙂

The history of places always fascinates me, and Lakeway has done an excellent job of preserving and presenting it. I had to get off the Magic Bus when I got sidetracked, looking up stuff on the cabin and the Indian mounds. Got back on to finish up at the cabin’s original site.

Got myself a couple of doughnuts and cup of coffee, then went to your post on the tour from 2019. Nice, John, including that wind mobile. 🙂

  6. The Heritage Tour looks like it was a fun day, John, I love that cabin. It was hard to pass up that grilled kale salad, but I’ll go with the cast iron cheddar cornbread, the pork loin and the Lime mousse.
