Views of Neighborhood – Arbor Day – Tree Planting

Our parks team had a great time planting trees with the community volunteers this weekend for Texas Arbor Day. Six live oak trees were planted in the median of Lakeway Boulevard thanks to the help of nearly 30 residents, led by our city forester, and participation by Davey Tree, Mayor Pro Tem Mastrangelo, and Councilmember O’Brien.

I did capture the event for us to enjoy as well. We are being catered by Chick-fil-A of Bee Cave, who is also feeding the participants. Our entertainment is Plain White T’s

I loved the Plain White Ts video! Coincidentally, last week Jennie Fitzkee read The Giving Tree on video.

Planting trees is such a good thing to do. We planted a tree in memory of my dad when he passed away.

That is the greatest was to honor a life, Darlene. The Producer planted a tree for my 80th birthday. A magnificent magnolia.

Excellent community project. Residents coming together reflects the pride in their community. What kind of trees were planted? By the way, a grilled chicken sandwich for me, please.

They were live oaks with are native to this area. One grilled chicken sandwich coming up. Do you want bacon and cheese on that?

To whom it may concern, Mr. Bottch needs to consume bacon, cheese ,malt, and barley in any form he finds palatable.

😂😂😂John, if you and I had traveled together in business, we may not have had good sales, but we would have had a helluva lot of laughs. My former sales mgr and vowed not to grow up and we’ve been sticking by that promise for years. Maybe it’ll happen someday, but I doubt it😎

I never grew up. When my last day came the finance guy said “We had so much fun.” It was true and coming from the finance guy a real compliment.

It is beautiful weather this time of year. You wouldn’t like it when its 106 though. We had 29 days above 105 and 70 above 100.

It may be sacrilege in the south and Texas, but I’m not a fan of Chick-fil-A®. We tried them a couple of times after they finally moved up here, but we were not impressed. Still, I might grab a few nuggets 😉

    Excellent event!

A side note. CC got a Chick-fil-A not too long ago during the pandemic but I’ve been once. I like their sandwiches, but not their fries so I don’t go there. I wish they offered potato chips. I am one of those that can’t have a sandwich sans chips or fries.

If their waffle fries are well done they are good but if they spend any time in the bag they are soggy. They should have chips.

That was quite a turn out! We got two trees planted for Arbor Day in the small park next to where we live. I would have expected more live oaks but I don’t recognize the ones that were planted and may have to call the city to find out what kind.

I love the fact that children are involved – they will be able to watch the trees grow in years to come and know they had a role in that! Great choice of song, although I don’t know the group.

When I was a kid, our first Monday in August holiday was called “Arbor Day”. The holiday was for planting a tree.
    Now it’s called “Civic Holiday”.

What a great idea, but should they have planted those trees that close together?? I mean, won’t they be crowded when they get bigger? (Not being critical here — I just don’t know).
