Today, we are visiting the Lakeway Activity Center to attend a concert by the singing group A Capella Texas. This concert is in a series of brown bag lunch concerts sponsored by The Lakeway Arts Committee.
Here’s a little about A Cappella Texas.
A Cappella Texas entertains audiences with world-class a cappella harmony featuring new and challenging contemporary a cappella, doo-wop, gospel music, and traditional barbershop arrangements. Since 1961, Austin has been home to a Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) chapter. In the past six decades, the Austin Chapter and its quartets have brought people together in harmony and fellowship to enrich lives through singing. Hundreds of local singers and schools have joined in the fun as they have encouraged and preserved the uniquely American a cappella art form known as barbershop music.
We are catered by Acre 41 of Austin, and our entertainment is Home Free.

I think they did have a great time. There was another video with these guys and the Oak Ridge Boys doing Elvira. Almost did that one. You can see it on YouTube

I’m thrilled to see such a great turnout, John! Supporting the arts, of course, is a Big Deal with me, and we performers can’t get enough applause, ha! Just knowing we’ve put smiles on people’s faces and urged their toes to tap is gratification. Thank you for taking me along — happy Sunday!

Dear John
They look like the Barbershop singers here who perform in village halls. But they surely sing different songs. Here, nearly all songs are nautical.
Have a happy week

What do you think about early like 1:00AM or 2:00AM Tuesday morning or do you prefer a different time?

I think 1:00 am is perfect. You will hit the European folks while they have tea.

John, I enjoyed this post a lot. Thank you — I needed this happiness. It looks like such a fun outing.
I love harmony, everything from madrigals to Three Dog Night, to Pentatonix, to barbershop.
And, you caught me.
Yes, I really am all about that bass. LOL. Makes my toes curl. My favorite in the past few years is Geoff Castellucci. Geoff Castellucci – YouTube
Big hugs to you and yours.

So glad you liked it Teagan. Geoff has some set of pipes for sure. I love close harmony too. Hugs

I loved the video. My last comment wasn’t accepted, because I said that a cappella groups tend to be “clean” in their lyrics and the way they present themselves? Not sure. I’ll see if this gets accepted. Looks like a really fun day. I’m all about that bass.
