The machine delivers a nerve-saving cup of steaming elixir. The first sip signals the low caffeine warning horn inside my head that a new chapter of addiction satisfaction has begun. The second sip is accompanied by the ever-present Westminster chimes of the front doorbell, indicating another idiot ignoring the “do not ring the doorbell” sign that covers the doorbell.
The barking of Twiggy and Tempeste threatens to crack windows and plaster, so a bone is tossed into the soundproof room, and when the two hounds of Baskerville go inside, the door is slammed. The silence almost caused the eardrums to implode. A check of the security monitor predictably shows the image of someone who looks like Daffy Duck. The usual conversation takes place about a signature for an. envelope, so, with a sigh, the security shutdown process begins.
The SWAT team needs to be put on standby. A quick text to the leader confirms that status. Also, the flight of A-10 Warthogs must be diverted. Another call to the commander puts that worry to rest. The SEAL team needs to be called off, and a call to the leader makes that possible. The MH-60 Jayhawk Helicopter hovering over the house is diverted. A call to the tow truck driver stops the deployment of an M1A1 Abrams Tank. The control panel simplifies the shutdown process of the security system. The boiling oil vats are put on standby, the turret mortars disengaged, the Trebuchet on safety, the concertina wire rolled, the Claymore mines reset, the tower Gatling guns on safety, the moat net dropped, the alligators fed, and the IEDs and shoulder-held rockets put away. The Proton torpedoes switched off. The gamma ray beams covered. The high-powered maser guns switched to standby, and the nanorobots were chained in the basement. The Klingons are called back, and the Targ is caged. Robbie’s Bot is sent to the basement. The Tasmanian Devil is directed to the food in his cage, and the door drops. The locks on the door are thrown. And the door opened.
The duck points to a line on the clipboard for my signature. After signing, he gives me an envelope. Before his little web food gives the classic tip gesture, he gets the tip of the day. “Remember the Chinese proverb: ‘Be not afraid of growing slowly; be afraid only of standing still.'” Before the duck can react, the front door is locked and the security system reactivated.
The envelope is from Linda Hill. Inside is a message. It says, Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “chapter.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

“So, what’s the next chapter?”
“Next chapter of what?”
“Of our blogging lives.”
“Whatever do you mean?”
“You’ve been running this coffee bit for a while now.”
“Yeah, so?”
“Readers get tired.”
“Yes, they do, but each time we test the viability of this segment, it still has interest.”
“Gotta wonder why.”
“I think it is comfortable and usually has a smile or two connected with it.”
“Not to mention my contribution of the Uber.”
“Yes, a significant contribution.”
“How about that one over there?”

“Now we’re talking. That sedan is riding in style.”
“One thing, though.”
“Figures.”
“We have to go with the driver to a Bonny and Clyde biographic shoot.”
“Sounds like fun. Let’s go.”
“It should be, till the bullets fly.”
“You serious?”
“Naw, just playing with you.”
“Okay then. Let’s go.”

You must’ve been one bad hombre back in the day, judging by your lengthy process of calling off the dogs; both literally and figuratively. After securing your dynamic doggo duo, you have more steps to shutting down your security system than the White House!
But the tips, the tips always pass muster. Even if Daffy wouldn’t agree.
That ride IS style. And the best part? No bullets.

I will admit I’m here to see which toon appears and what amazing car you’ve discovered. It isn’t a Saturday until I see what Uber has sent the Voodoo Ranger Boys. 😀

Good tip for Daffy, John, and it should be a nice ride in that classic Uber vehicle. Have a great weekend.

They hit the intruder with everything they have. It would not be a pretty sight.

Thank heavens, no bullets! The car looks like a tan version of the car that my son drove to his prom. It had been owned by Al Capone and had a bullet hole in it! The owner made a lot of money renting it out!
