With so little going on around town, I thought we would take a moment to check out the deer. We are catered by Le Calamar of Austin. Our entertainment is Steve Martin, Jackson Browne, and Alison Brown
Menu
Steak Tartare pain de mie, comte
Let’s get going.
There they are approaching the carrot handout spot at my house.
Gotta be careful when the miser is getting on his bike.
“Okay, Bud. There is nothing to see here. You can take that bike and underlay burro.”
“Now that he’s gone, we can eat in peace. Come on, ladies. It’s safe.”
The first brave doe.
The rest of the ladies enjoy their carrots.
A different group in the sun.
This year’s fawn.
Looks like he wants me to move on, too.
The deer seem happy and healthy, so it is time for food and music. I hope you have a delightful week.

The deer were here before the community, so we believe we are taking over their space.

Right up to the house and look in the windows to get our attention.

Wow! We sure don’t see that here. For a while, in back of our house were a lot of trees, and I saw a huge buck at our fence, sleeping all day. The new owner of the property cut all the trees down, though.

Well, at least you got to see the buck before the trees went.

I think he was the biggest buck I’ve ever seen, John.

They’re so pretty … and attentive. Just look at those soulful eyes! Thank you, John, for giving them a safe place to feed. How do Twiggy and Tempeste stand the idea of them out there? Poor Monk would be beside himself!

They are okay as long as one of us is out there with them. If not, they try to bark them to St Louis.

I dig how they have the run of the neighborhood. I know I’ve said it before but hey, around here, the poor things really don’t have that freedom. I remember running into a family of them last year during a run and was like WOW!, because that really is not the usual.
Great video!

I envy you the deer, John. Apart from neighbourhood cats – oh yes, and our resident hedgehog – and he occasional uninvited rodent – all our wildlife has feathers
