TGIF is as TGIF Does – A HAIKU

As you know last week brought my book launch and a call for volunteers. I am very happy to report the volunteer docket is filled. I have thirty really nice people who are kind enough to help me out. (I know. . . which way did you come in? *drum bump-de-bump and symbol crash*) I am going to officially close the request, but if you really want to sign-up you can still do it at johnhowell.wave@gmail.com. I want to thank all of you who signed up to help with the launch of My GRL. I think we are going to have some fun. As a reminder the tour starts on Sunday January 19th and runs until February 1. For all the volunteers, look for the material on the 16th or it really could be a little before. The e-book go live confirmation will govern the material.

Since it is Friday, I think a Haiku is in order to more or less move us into the weekend.  This is a Haiku I composed while waiting for my e-book to go live which seems to be my sole focus these days. The print version has been available since January 2 and the e-version is in some kind of holding pattern. Like a new father waiting in the hall for the birth of a child I pace the floor like a wounded animal checking and re checking the Amazon site for signs of my e-book’s birth. So here it goes:

Launch by John W. Howell

Launch child of paper,

Come on out digital kid…

I need to meet you.

The stat and sale checking gets horribly addictive at the beginning. Hope things are going well for your debut week.

Love the haiku 🙂 Too bad there’s difficulties with the e-book version. I just bought the print version 🙂 Since I’ve been reading more and more e-books, I’m finding that I like the e-book format less and less. I’m sure much of it has to do with working on a computer all day. Anyway, I just hope your book doesn’t topple my TBR tower 🙂

I hope so too. Just don’t stand underneath.

Oddly enough I’m reading ebooks almost exclusively these days. I like being able to look up words spontaneously, like, in the book I’m reading now, “luff.” Who knew?

Anyhow, looking forward to My GRL in digital form!

I have gotten addicted to my reader. I will by a paperback IF it is the only version available, but I try to get the ereader for fiction. I do like research books in paper form, so I can easily thumb through and bookmark pages for reference.

I’ve told so many people that a book feels like having a child. Because I don’t have any children, most of my friends get offended by the comparison. I’m glad you feel the same way, and you have children.

I’m going to be out of town from the 14 – 20. I will be able to check email, but I may not be able to download the book. Here’s hoping very much that I can get it by the 13th. It will be good company on my flight.

Your new e-book has a brilliant cover design. Very ethereal and relaxing. Good work with the haiku. It is hard to wait and wait until your book goes live…all that trepidation!. Wishing you all the best successes with this project John.
