Friday is here. Happy Valentines day. Feels like we have been pulling a sled packed with tons of ice. Oh wait a minute, we have been pulling such a sled and have new meaning to the term “huddling masses.” I don’t think I have ever been this cold for this long. We normally have temperatures thirty degrees warmer and none of us are prepared for this. We go outside in flip-flops and shorts this time of year. If one were to do that now a frost bite kit should be carried along as well. It is so cold (how cold is it?) I saw a sea-gull trying to hitchhike to Miami. It is so cold, the coyotes have pulled out their human fur wraps. It is so cold, the pelicans have their bills packed with frozen fish. Anyway enough of the Henny Youngman jokes. Here is a Haiku to celebrate the coming spring.

It is damn fridged,
Spring is a far away dream . . .
Beer stays real cold.

Been watching your terrible weather on the news John. Stay warm!

Cold here too. We broke a glass bottle of beer freezing it. So be careful!

Lucky for me the temp doesn’t get below 34 (don’t laugh it is cold for us) so the glass bottles are safe. Have a good weekend

Most beautiful final line of a poem I’ve seen all week. Now if only I could make it to a point where I know I won’t be driving.

I make sure to not drive when I’m in my jammies. (of course putting them on at five o’clock can raise an eyebrow,

That last line is what separates winter form summer down here. There is no spring or fall, at least not much, as they last only a couple of weeks.

When I was underage (don’t tell any kids this) we used to keep them cold in the creek in the woods.

I didn’t realise it has been so cold in your part of the world. It seems that it has been a winter of extremes. Here in the UK it has been mild, but incredibly wet with severe flooding through much of the nation as you have probably heard. You can’t blame that seagull for heading for Miami!

Yes even if he had to hitchhike. Thanks

Great haiku and, yup, the main (only?) upside to cold temps is that the beer stays cold 😉 Well, so should your margaritas 🙂
