This week was excellent weather wise. I got a chance to do some more painting (no Virginia not on canvas) on the porch. Maybe next week I’ll take a shot of the final result. I’m a little reluctant since you won’t be able to see the difference as I did not do a before. Ah well, I’ll see how it works out. My publisher and I agreed to go our separate ways. I think this will be best for the two of us. I think they have some different priorities. I have completed the John Cannon trilogy and would like to see the two other parts published before I kick. I now have the opportunity to query other publishers or self-publish. I will need to look at all the alternatives and then make a decision.
This week’s JohnKu (a term coined by Words4jp) is about patience. I learned to be patient since it took over a year to work out a solution. I hope you like it.
Patience by John W. Howell © 2015
Action is what counts,
Unless some time needs be spent. . .
Patience is virtue.

Sorry about your Publisher! I’m sure that must have been a blow 😦

Sorry about the publisher. Hoping it’s a good thing and you can publish the other two books. What will the first book’s situation be? Do you have publishing rights immediately or do you need to wait?

The contract expires in March. I will see what happens after that.

Publish them as a 3 book set? 😀

Could do that after march, but I want to get number two out there.

Sorry about your problems with the publisher, John. We are very familiar with similar problems with Klausbernd’s publishers, not funny.
We love your JohnKu about patience! 🙂

A great Friday Johnku. I think you were smart to break with that publisher, John. It didn’t seem like they were doing much for you. Have a fabulous Friday. Hugs!

So they’ve released you from the contract? Bummer, except that now you’re free to move forward with your sequels. Hopefully you can find another publisher given that you’ve got one novel on the market and it’s been getting good reviews 🙂

We will have to see. The query process is a bear.

Also the contract is still in force. They have waived the first refusal rights on the next two.

I know virtually nothing about book contracts, but wouldn’t it be easier to just release you altogether? What is the advantage to them to keep you on contract if they don’t have the will (or capacity) to publish your books in a timely fashion?

If they go off contract then my book is pulled form the distribution system. Don’t need that now.

Pardon the cliche, but when one door closes…another opens. I have a feeling this is going to be a good thing for you.

Thanks Susan. it does make sense cliche or not.

Crying shame about the publisher, John. I can’t help thinking, though, that this could be a blessing in disguise — let’s hope so! If nothing else, it gives you options, and who doesn’t appreciate options?!! Love the Johnku, too.

Sorry about the publisher situation, but it sounds like it was for the best. Each party had different needs. There are a lot of horror stories of publishers letting works just float off into oblivion without letting the author put them out somewhere else, so in this case, I think it’s good news.
Looking forward to seeing what you do with it, but most of all, looking forward to reading the rest of the series!!

Apt Johnku. I’m sure you’ll find a suitable publishing solution John. Hope you’re not planning to ‘kick’ anytime soon.

I have six specialists keeping me going so I think the kick is a ways off.
