I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year. I will close this year with a couple of photos of some Herons who I see during my bike rides on the beach.
I managed to get close enough to take his picture. The day was foggy and misty so this photo although in color looks more like a black and white.
Here is another Heron sitting on the dune walkover last week just before it was torn down. This was taken at the finish of my ride.
So this is pretty much how the year ended. Lots of wind, rain and fog.
Best wishes for 2016.

Happy New Year, John! 🙂

Happy New Year! Love seeing herons fly. Had one in the area this spring, which was odd. Think it scared the wits out of a local hawk since it was standing in a pine tree.

We also have a hawk but he is very shy. Maybe the Herons keep him that way. Happy New Year.

Hawks are fun. Had a mating pair near the Florida apartment. They’d hop around the ground even if I was sitting at one of the picnic tables.

Although our December has been abnormally warm (only a handful of days not above normal). But it has gotten colder for our transition into 2016 – thus I appreciate the warm images you’ve captured. Happy New Year to you and yours … and may 2016 bring you much joy.

Herons and kingfishers are daily visitors out my office window. They’re both pretty skittish. The heron even sees me moving through the window and gets nervous. Hope you have a great 2016.

It is fun to watch them watch me. You would think I have a shotgun in my hand. Happy New Year Craig. Let’s do more of this in 2016

How do seashore photos always look great, no matter what the weather’s doing?! Herons and gulls are my favourite birds, even if they’re nuisances at times – have a comfy and warm New Year’s Eve, John! 😀

I’ve yet to get close enough to a heron to get as good a photo as you have here, John — wow! Makes me eager to try my hand again, the next time we go south. Happy New Year’s to you from equally grey — but probably much colder! — Illinois!!
