Thursday – A Little Personal

One of the things our Boxers Lucy (L) and Bailey (R) love to do is dig in the sand. They are especially happy when they come upon a gopher mound. To date, no gophers have been injured by these two. They continue to try but are up against a foe with superior intelligence. (Just looking at these two will confirm the previous sentence.)

Here they are. You be the judge.

  1. Reblogged this on Smorgasbord – Variety is the spice of life and commented:
John Howell usually treats us to wonderful views of the Texas Coast but today one of the other loves of his life.. his boxers.. aahhhh

    1. Thank you so much Sally. They are loves.

  2. They are handsome looking dogs, John.
I have to admit, that the few boxers I’ve known, haven’t been the sharpest tools in the box.
And the dogs aren’t much better!

    1. Ha ha ha. Thanks Keith

  3. Can you dig it! (I’ll refrain from the video… It weirded me out when the other one took you to something political.) What was that song anyway… Grazing in the Grass?
Have a thriving Thursday, John. Hugs.

    1. Yes that was the song. Sorry to weird you out. Have a great Thursday. Hugs

      1. Not at all John. It was a good heads up. I never put anything political or religious on my blog, so I value that you let me know. I had no idea that the youtube videos might get hijacked that way. Sunshine super hugs!

      2. πŸ™‚ Thanks Sunshine to you as well.

  4. They look like they’re up to something in the second picture. Have to respect that they keep trying. Have to wonder if they’d know what to do with a gopher if they found one.

    1. I think the gopher would scare them to death.

      1. Be careful what you wish for.

  5. I love boxers! (The four legged kind not the two legged kind) We had a brindle with a black face. Wonderful personality!

    1. Aw. So cute. Thanks.

  6. I need to get another dog. Their antics are wonderful.

  7. *laughing* I think they’re just frustrated.

    1. That could well be. Score = Gophers 100 Dogs 0

      1. See. They need reinforcements.

      2. Maybe a mongoose or two.

  8. Didn’t know you had dogs!

    1. Yup. Two and one cat

  9. Digging’s more fun – gophers have v. nasty teeth on them! πŸ˜‰

    1. Yes. I shudder to think what would happen if they caught one.

  10. You can’t go wrong with a puppy post.
    Well done, John.

  11. I’m grateful Dallas isn’t a digger. I guess he’s too busy herding to worry over whatever’s buried underground! Your doggins look like they’re up to something…probably planning where to dig next, right?!

    1. They love to dig. Never in the yard though. Thanks.

  12. LOL! I think they deserve an “awww!” moment.
    I love animal posts!

    1. Thanks Mae Claire. I love them as well.

  13. Our dog loves to dig. Unfortunately, she doesn’t hit wet sand until she removes, what passes for grass in our yard. She’s trying to dig up a chipmunk – not happening either.

  14. These boys just wanna have fun, right? Handsome devils trying to look innocent. Ha ha.

    1. Yes these “boys” are girls and they do wanna have fun.

  15. They look like butter wouldn’t melt in their mouths, John. Dogs love to dig. I just hope my dog find me some treasure one day.

    1. Thanks Hugh. I’m lucky they do all their digging out side the yard.

      1. My dog, Toby, sometimes tries digging up the carpet. However, it could be him just building a nest before settling down to some more must needed sleep.

      2. Our departed Silky Terrier did the same. We then moved into a house with all wooden floors. Had to buy her a bed to dig in. We do miss her. (2 years)

      3. They become a big part of the family. I can’t imagine life without Toby.

      4. I know right? I just hate to see them go.

  16. What happy cutties!

  17. I bet they’re just darling. Brains aren’t everything. At least they’re happy in their digging. πŸ˜€ — Suzanne

    1. They are the happiest and you are right that is pretty much all that counts. Thanks Suzanne

  18. Ah, Lucy and Bailey (my namesake ;)). Such sweet looking pups! It’s a win-win for you: you get to be entertained by them but no animals are injured in the process. Except, do you have to give them baths afterwards? I guess sand wouldn’t be as “dirty” as dirt.

    1. They are good at shaking the sand off. Lots of sand in our house anyway so we hardly notice a little more.

      1. It’s got to be better than the cat litter my cats track around πŸ˜‰

      2. Our cat Stella is in charge of the litter track around. She does such a nice job.
