Friday JohnKU – AKA – TGIF

Christmas Tree

Photo of our Christmas tree this year

Looks like we are going to make the week. I have spent some time doing my Holiday shopping via the keyboard. I don’t know why I have resisted this method of shopping. It is so easy to search and click. Also, many of the retailers are offering free shipping. For an old island dweller, whose closest gift store is a forty mile round trip this is a real boon to spending. Oh yeah, the downside of convenience is the escalation of the outlay.  I guess I will worry about that in January. I also have a granddaughter in Germany this year and sending a gift is not very practical. A nice Amazon gift card delivered into her e-mail box solves the time and distance problem. Ahhhh modern technology. Today’s JohnKu celebrates the good side.

A keyboard is all,

That’s needed to shop the world. . .

Of course, money too.

Thank you , Deborah. Each year it takes on a different look. The one featured on Sally Cronin’s blog is last years. Here’s the link in case you haven’t had a chance to visit https://smorgasbordinvitation.wordpress.com/christmas-2016-smorgasbord-promotions-blogs-books-gifts-short-stories/

I used to enjoy going through the stores looking for gift ideas. Now, for me, the only way to go is online. So much more efficient when you’re limited by time or distance! Tree looks good!

Thank you. I agree totally. I do miss walking around and maybe I’ll venture out there just once and for a little time. 🙂

Yes, I like to see what’s up in the stores. but I think it’s more fun to do this when you know that most of the shopping is already done!

Fabulous Friday Johnku, my friend. Yay for online shopping and delivery!!!
I love the tree, especially the color scheme — and that little seahorse! Based on the glimpse, your place is lovely too. Mega hugs to you and yours.

Thanks , Teagan. My wife designed the decor and it could best be described as “beach cottage.” Lots of beadboard, white trim, and pastel shades. Hugs to you. 🙂

I do the majority of my Christmas shopping via ebay and find there’s no postage on a lot of the items. So very convenient. Nowadays if I’m buying a present for someone abroad I make sure I buy it from that Country and have it sent direct at local postage costs rather than delivered to me for me to send on at double the postage .
    The tree looks fantastic John.
    Hugs

Online shopping is very easy and quick, but I do miss the ability to browse. Although, I don’t miss the Christmas music that is always played at ‘Godzilla roaring through a megaphone’ levels of volume.

Just be careful around malls. The parking lots are nightmares.

I know. I used to drive there. You should have seen my car. When I traded it in they marked “landfill” on the window.

That’s a fun one, John! I love to go to stores and shop (I can make it into a sport, LOL), but I also do a lot of online shopping. The variety is so much better and free shipping is great. I’m also an Amazon prime member which has a lot of perks.

BTW, a gorgeous and festive-looking Christmas tree. It goes with the Christmas music I’ve been listening to all morning 🙂

Definitely I vote for online shopping versus the stores. Plus, you have a lot less chance of picking up the flu bug from your keyboard. 🙂 Beautiful tree and home!

That a smashing Christmas tree, John. Living in a tiny village on the coast, I do a lot of shopping online. Mostly the goods are delivered within 1-2 days, hardly any postage and no aggravation. Yesterday we had to go in to the big city of Norwich so full and all parking lots too. 😦 No I have absolutely no bad feelings about not visiting any shops. 🙂
Wishing you and yours a wonderful weekend,
    Dina & co

John, you and your wife outdid yourselves on that beautiful tree! And are you sure you have dogs?? Your house is suspiciously immaculate, especially those wooden floors!! Well, perhaps it’s just that your fur-kids don’t shed the way Dallas does, right?!

Beautiful JohnKu, and so true. If one doesn’t feel a need to try stuff on or to “touch and roll,” then online definitely is the way to go. Best of luck with the book sale!!

I usually like shopping for real stores, but this year, they’ve mostly over done everything to a scary point. I’ve shopped more online than ever. The tree is beautiful, John. I thought you had dogs…how did you train them not to wag stuff all over the place?

Ah ha – docked tails – that explains a lot. Since the tail is one of an Irish Setters signature elements, it’s free to swish. We haven’t owned a coffee table in 30 years.
