Yesterday I was in the golf cart heading into town to protest my tax appraisal (Whole other story). The reason I had to use the golf cart is my car has been held prisoner in the mechanic shop since last Wednesday. (Another whole other story.) I was going to shoot a pictorial on the High School and Middle School here in Port Aransas since that is where the protest meeting was being held. While motoring along the beach, I decided to take a shot of the crowds here for the weekend.

Then I came upon something that I didn’t know about.

Well, I canceled the High School Pics and went for these instead.

Yes, by “go topless” they mean to take the top off your Jeep. This event is happening this weekend all over the US.

I didn’t see anyone taking the top off a Jeep that had a hard top, so I think the rules are pretty loose.

Families were participating

Everyone was real friendly

One club had their banner on display

I threw this one in for Charles Yallowitz. He has a thing for squirrels

Here is something you don’t often see. Jeeps parked on one another. This must be like circling the wagons

Here is another look at the same group.

There were a few custom Jeeps as well

Here is a 1976 Jeep which has been converted to a sand machine.

There were many more but time does not permit all. I hope you enjoyed the brief look at the Jeep Go Top Less Day.

I always liked the jeep, a sturdy reliable vehicle, but never knew they had clubs! Looks like they all had a great day – the weather cooperated.

Thanks for the squirrel shot. Curious how they got the jeeps on each other without damage.

I guess there is a way. I didn’t see them do it. 🙂

Talk about clickbait! – although I did spot some other kinds of ‘topless’ along the way there… 😛

Good luck with the tax thing — and the car repair. Ouch and double ouch… Mega hugs.

Makes me want to trade in my mini-van for a jeep. (did I just type mini-van? ignore that)

Gee, no Canadian Jeep enthusiasts passing out free Molsons? A great collection here, John. I hope your car and tax issues get sorted to your satisfaction.

Thanks, John. I don’t think there is a Polar Bear branch of the Jeep clubs. 😀

There are probably a few chapters up here in the Great White North! Our cold spring weather continues – we might see 59 F today.

Good morning, John,
I just tried to comment here, using Firefox, and my comment didn’t show up. Maybe it’s in your spam folder. But let me now try using MS IE. Let’s see if this goes through.
What I wanted to say: nice as these cars look and interested as I am in cars, this is still a weekend I would want to miss in Port A. Way too many cars and people on the beach!
Have a great weekend,
Pit

This looks like so much fun. My brothers each have a jeep (and other toys) and love to head to the mountains or desert (no water where they love). Imagining you in your golf cart, heading to a town meeting and then getting distracted by a jeep club, evokes a big smile. You’ve got your priorities in place! Fun first… protest later 🙂

I learned to drive behind the wheel of a Jeepster. Does anyone remember them?

I sure do. A classmate had a 1959 and it was gorgeous. Bright Yellow with black accents.

Very clever, parking Jeeps on top of one another. I’d have never thought to do that, especially on a sandy surface. Hope the tax protest went well … and that you secure the release of your auto soon. Although riding around in a golf cart isn’t too bad in itself!

The golf cart is a nice ride. It has an uplifted suspension so I don’t get stuck in the sand.
