Well, It is Friday. I have left my home as ordered by the Port Aransas Police. Yes, we have had a compulsory evacuation due to the severity of Hurricane Harvey. The storm is expected to hit Port Aransas at 1:00 am Saturday morning. The winds are expected to sustain at 110 miles per hour. So we followed orders and joined the thousands who crowded the highway. We are now in Austin with our youngest and will ride out the storm here.
I have to apologize to all of you since I have unable to get on-line prior to leaving Port Aransas. The drive to Austin took an extra two hours due to traffic. (Some guy in a truck took down a major utility pole.) I’m not sure how attentive I will be, but will give it my best shot. Today’s JohnKu talks about what is important in these kinds of situations.

Oh, John, I’m so glad you and your wife and dogs made it out and up to Austin. I’ve been thinking about you since I read the storm was coming your way. I just thought there’d be an evacuation. John, I was thinking about you while watching the news update last night on Harvey, I’m so glad you’re all safe with family. Hopefully, Harvey will blow through quickly with minimal damage. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Wow, that is scary. I haven’t seen an update this morning but as we watched the news last night I was telling my DH about you, your wife and the girls (Lucy, Bailey and Stella). You are in my prayers.

I could not imagine the line at the ferry…but I suppose one could take the route through Corpus Christi. Here is hoping that the town comes through with a minimum of damage.

John, As somebody who grew up in “Tornado Alley” (that’s Kansas for the uninitiated) I understand how tough it is to leave your home to the mercy of Mother Nature. She can be a real b…h sometimes. But you and yours are safe. Nothing more important than that. Fingers crossed that Harvey bypasses your house.

Every time the weather report or news comes on TV, the predictions seem dire. I’m glad you and yours are in a safe place. This is the downside of living near the coast. Praying for you and yours and that Port Aransas can bite the bullet.
