Views of the Neighborhood – Halloween

We had a cold front move in for Halloween. My photos this week show islanders bundled up like they are in Alaska.  This weekend had two Halloween events pictured here. The first is the annual sand pumpkin carving event. The second is the Trunk or Treat event held in the park. I hope you like them.

Old glory is never too far away these days. A reminder us of how fortunate we are to live here.

Now for the Trunk and Treat which took place in the late afternoon. You can tell by the long shadows.

Our department of Parks and Recreation is the best.

You can see how it works. Folks have their trunks full of goodies.

There are also freshly grilled hamburgers.

This couple had a well decorated golf cart.

Speaking of pirates.Nice crew.

A shot of children getting treats at a picnic shelter.

Some of the goodies.

A huge castle for jumping.

Little duckies with gift numbers.

The biggest bounce house on the planet.

Happy Halloween from the island.

  1. Great photos, John. I love the sand pumpkins and the joy in the children’s faces. Port Aransas may still be rebuilding but its heart is thriving. Happy Halloween!

  2. What great fun, John. The weather reminds a little of the time we went to the island of Cyprus one December. There we were sat out in the sunshine in shorts and short-sleeved shirts, while Islanders had big coats, hats and scarfs on. It was mid-60s. Perfect summer weather here in Wales.
    Happy Halloween. 🎃

  3. I always love these posts, John. Seeing everyone out and about, enjoying their community is wonderful. The pumpkins are great, but I’m not liking the Cowboy fan…just the hat, the cute little boy is okay. 🙂 Go Redskins! Happy Sunday.

  4. Good morning, John,
It’s so good to see that Port A is keeping its spirits up! Looks like great – even if cold – weather. Typical at the back of a cold front, isn’t it?
Here, we just had quite a cold night. The nearest weather station, about a mile away, still had 32 at 8:20 this morning!
Enjoy your Sunday, and stay warm,
    Pit

  5. Love these, John. We’re doing a Trunk or Treat here, too. Probably a better idea than sending kids door to door. As for the chilly temps, just wait a bit — you’ll rebound nicely, I’m predicting. And I so love the shot of the sun glistening on the water!
